Chapter I
Introduction
Laguna University is a government oriented university located in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. It’s globally competitive and socially responsive center of quality education and development in the province of Laguna. Its aim is to produce academically prepared and technically skilled individuals who are socially and morally upright citizens. One of the courses that this university is offering is the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy of the BSA program. This course is an in demand course because of the easiness of finding a job when you graduated. In addition, there are lots of choices of jobs if you’re a BSA graduate. Because of those reasons, lots of students take this course without knowing how hard being an accountancy student is.
Background of the Study
Accountancy, or accounting, is the production of information about an enterprise and the transmission of that information from those who have it to those who need it. The communication is generally in the form of financial statements that show in money terms the economic resources under the control of management; the art lies in selecting the information that is relevant to the user and is representationally faithful. The principles of accountancy are applied to business entities in three divisions of practical art, named accounting, bookkeeping, and auditing.
Statement of the Problem Many students are now taking the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy course in Laguna University but this course is still not yet improved because it’s one of the most recent course offered in the said university. The researchers want to know what are the ways that they can do to improve the said course.
Sub-Problems:
1. Do we need to improve the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in Laguna University? 2. What are some weaknesses of the Bachelor of Science of Accountancy in Laguna University? 3. Do the numbers of Accountancy enrollees affect the course positively or negatively?
