When is the last time you used the Internet? Maybe 1 minute, 30 minutes, 45 minutes ago. The things we can do on Internet are so technologically advanced that we use it for different reasons such as Facebook and Twitter which all require the internet. The Internet is a technology used by almost everyone around the world. This technology makes it possible for people to access valuable information through millions of sites that have been created by people willing to share there personal knowledge. People use it as a medium to connect with other people, sharing files, entertainment, information and lots of other activities that are useful and beneficial in many terms. This shows that the Internet has become a daily use in today's age and can do mostly anything for us. In Nicholas Carr’s article, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” published July 2008 in The Atlantic. Carr claims that the Internet has actually affected how human beings process information. His main fear is that the Internet is changing the way that men think in a way that is destroying their ability to think deeply. As opposed, In Jamais Cascio’s article, “Getting Smarter”. Cascio is arguing his belief that people are actually getting smarter due to modern technology. Carr and Cascio have different perspectives in our modern technology today. Technology has many advantages and disadvantages that could affect our lives.
Technology is beginning to take over the human mind and even causing the brain to function differently. Carr addresses many fears toward the growing technology. He points out that we start to lose focus after a couple of sentences while reading, browsing, research, etc. He is a believer that the Internet is doing too much for us. The Internet seems to lose our train of thought while we are on it. It is doing most of the work for us while all the users of the Internet type in key words to get to the answer.
