Unbroken direct traffic
Multi-section transportation chain
Transportkette 1 : Direct transportation without turnover between a delivering-place and a receive station.
Medium-sized shipments within an approaching area ;
large cargo loans about larger distances
Transportkette 2 : is typical of the distribution of smaller shipments within the catchment area of an turnover point. The shipments are fetched in the pre-run on collecting-rides with several small consigners or in fetching-rides with a gross
consigner. After an turnover in the after-run the goods are
taken to the receiving places.
Transportation chain 3 : shipment forwarding
agency over larger distances
* pre-run in the catchment area of a collectingturnover point * main run to a distributing-turnover point
* after-run in another field
This transportation chain is typical for inter modal
road train transport and represents the simplest
connection opportunity in the ship and air traffic with
a decentralized network.
The transportation chain 4 runs with two main
runs about a central turnover-point. It is
characteristic for transportation service providers
with a central network.
The transportation chain 5 arises at an inter
modal transportation about large distances.
Another turnover point can be useful between
the regional turnover points and the main run.
Introduction of markets
for intermodal transport
studies –– where
Under intermodal transport is understood the carriage of goods which are summarised in loading units and are transported by several means of transportation of one or several traffic carriers without charges of the loading unity. The intermodal transport road/rail is covered with the product name combined cargo load traffic (KLV) on the part of the German railroad AG. Swap body, container, semi-trailer or complete truck are used as loading-units. The advantages of the intermodal transport are in the cooperation of the traffic carriers of road and rail, that to be associated system strength to an independent transport system.
It is distinguished between container- and piggyback traffic as forms of the intermodal transport road/rail.
The product structure on the side of the rail in the intermodal transport consists of direct trains, semidirect- and increase group trains and the spread traffic.
The intermodal transport is any traffic which is carried out with a continuous loading-unity (container, box, semi-trailer) over several traffic carriers.
The amount of the freight traffic in the intermodal transport increased by 7% in the year 2000. It is determined substantially by the international traffic
that ads 80% to the amount, during 20% are allotted on domestic traffic.
