SMK Subang Utama Interact Installation 2013/2014

Interact is a club for young people ages 12-18 who want to join together to tackle the issues in their community that they care most about. On the 4th of July 2013, the Interact Club of Subang Utama held the official interact installation of the new members and the new Board of Directors 2013/2014.
The event started off by welcoming the guest and VIPs. Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway President Datin Sandra Anne Raj, Rotarian Advisor Nigel Jones and Teacher Advisor Pn Tan Siew Lian were the chief guest of the evening.
After the attendance of guest and VIPs, a speech was giving by our outgoing president Arvind Bhaskaran. He listed out the successful projects they have accomplished over the last year like Friendship day sales and newspaper collecting. The purpose of the friendship day sale was to strengthen the friendship among students and also to raise funds for the club while the newspaper collecting was a community service to care for the environment. He too hopes that the club will continue to strive to be one of the best interact clubs in the region.
A short while after the outgoing president’s speech, new members of interact club were officially installed. The new members went up on stage orderly mannered with such pride in rotary spirit while President Datin Sandra were called up to officially install them. They were installed by handing them the official SMK Subang Utama Interact tie as the tie is the symbol to be recognize as an official interact member.
In a little while after a break was held, it was the official installation of the incoming Board of Directors. The outgoing Board of Directors will be on stage with lighted candles while the incoming members will go up the stage and take over the lighted candles. The passing down of the lighted candle represents the passing down of responsibility from the outgoings to the incomings.

    Symbolic interactionism is the way we learn to interpret and give meaning to the world through our interactions with others (LaRossa & Reitzes, 1993). Herbert Blumer was credited with the term “symbolic interactionism” in 1937. Blumer was a follower of George H. Mead, and was influenced by John Dewey. Dewey insisted that human beings are best understood in relation to their environment (The Society for More Creative Speech, 1996).
