Integrating Semicolons
The biggest difference between my paper and Woolf’s is the fact she used semicolons and I didn’t have a single one in my paper. With semicolons, she got a wider range of sentence types. With more sentence types, her style is more sophisticated than one with only simple and complex sentences like mine. It would really benefit me as a writer to know when and how to use semicolons effectively. I believe with integrating semicolons my papers would have more strength; they also would have a more academic style.

I enjoyed that these three papers were able to make me a stronger writer. The self in context essay I was able to learn how to express my emotions in writing. Most importantly writing the essay I realized that I have been keeping my emotions hidden. The lyrical essay got me to start thinking about writing poems again. Lastly the reportage essay forced me to step out of my comfort zone and have some fun. I am very thankful for this…

With your last paper I criticised your disjointed writing style and the lack of narrative flow. It is obvious that you have taken these comments on-board and have worked towards their successful resolution. In saying that, there is still room for improvement in this regard. While your transitions are much improved, some shifts between paragraphs feel a little messy. Being aware of this issue, as you clearly are, will help you continue to improve your writing style.…

The beginning process of writing this paper was a very intimidating process for me. But with your help and the help of one of my peers, I think I’ve come a long way with the quality and formatting of my essay. My peer suggested that I use in text citations. Once I researched this to be sure it was necessary, I reviewed my paper and made these adjustments to the best of my understanding. She also pointed out that my thesis statement did not describe the effectiveness of the authors’ rhetorical device. I would not have caught this error otherwise. I expanded my thesis statement to better describe this effectiveness. In both of my feed backs it was mentioned that I didn’t have a strong conclusion. So by restructuring my final paragraph this allowed me to expand in my conclusion. Adding to it a final prospective on Kate Harding’s story.…

Throughout this course I’ve learned various psychological theories, and being able to watch them play out in film has been an incredible experience for me. I’ve gained new perspectives for why people do the things that they do, which would otherwise be questionable to me. I now have an increased sense of empathy when it comes to others because we are all just trying to survive, and the way we do it is completely variable. For this reason, some of us lie, cheat, steal and cause harm to others. However, until we know the backstory to these people, or we “Take a walk in their shoes”, we will never truly understand them.…

    My Writing Style

A writer’s voice can be difficult to find, and it takes time to learn what a specific voice sounds like as a writer. It could take a whole lifetime for a writer to figure out what their voice is. It is not limited to any genre of writing, and can be found throughout any format. The voice a person writes with is unique to them and their writing style. Unlike an author’s voice, an author’s stance changes based on what kind of paper they are writing, and how they feel about the paper they are writing. Ellen Hopkins’ voice and stance in her writing is unique, which is why she is the most prominent influence on my writing. She is the inspiration behind some of my best papers so far, and will continue to be an inspiration to me as a writer. There are other examples of my writing that I could say contributed to my writing technique and my voice, everything that I have ever written has contributed at least something to my style and personality in writing, but Ellen Hopkins has had the largest impact on my writing style. I may not have found my voice yet, or I may have found it awhile ago without realizing it, but I know for sure that my writing has improved in the process of looking for it. As I write, it will continue to improve and get better, and the voice in my writing will continue to get stronger and more prominent as well, whether I realize it or…

I really liked this paper because it was based on personal information and made me remember time that I forgot about. There were some errors in this paper that I could’ve done better. It was also a couple pages short but I could’ve really spent some time on it to make it better. If I had more time I probably could’ve improved my literacy, as well as my dialog and action.…

I decided to exhibit my revision skills on Paper II: Frankenstein Critical Essay, which highlight my efforts to strengthen the introduction and thesis sentence. I think the introduction is the most important part of the essay—it’s your first impression! The Frankenstein essay not only needed to grasp the reader’s attention but also clearly state my critical argument. I chose to highlight my revision for the Frankenstein essay specifically because my revisions in the introduction aided in developing an analysis of the female characters in Frankenstein. Through the revision process I was able to think critically and recognize the difference between opinion and evidence as well as formulate an intelligent, challenging thesis. In the first draft…
