4-What will determine if Google+ can overtake Facebook?
Ans- Facebook is the undisputed king when it comes to social networking and few really expect the company to lose that crown anytime soon. Google definitely has certain advantages over Facebook with platforms like gmail, youtube and google.com incorporating into Google+. However the popularity of Facebook makes it difficult for other social networking sites to overtake it including Google+.
Although Google+ has certain interfaces and features over Facebook, like video sharing and enhanced user security through enabling users to organize their contacts into groups, It still does not have a competitive egde because people not only use Facebook for its features but because their friends use it. Also, their search filters are better eg. It shows how you are connected to others and makes searching for those you may know and might want to add easier.
However, few analysts say that the rate and speed with which Google+ is growing, it will be able to take over Facebook by 2016 (1). Marcus Tober, the owner of the search analytics company, searchmetrics, bases this on the fact that the % growth of Google+ during January 2012 and April 2013 was significantly larger than Facebook. Bearing in mind that Android Operating system already had more than 900 million followers as of 2013, this number has only but increased and will continue to increasing forcing more users towards Google+
However many have argued that users are heavily engaged in Facebook with 1.1 billion active users while Google+ had 190 million as of 2013. This is further confirmed by Google+ users average 11 minute usage of the site compared to Facebook’s 400 minute usage. Again, although many

Nobody living in 2005 could have ever predicted the skyrocketing usage of the internet in the years to come. MySpace has become pretty much obsolete when compared to Facebook’s whopping 845 million members (Protalinski, 2012). “Facebook” has become the most searched term on Google (onlineschools.org, 2012).…
