Destruction is the act of an object being destroyed or injured beyond repair, it something that can cause great distress. The act of destruction can come in many forms, but for Hiroshima and Nagasaki it came in the form of an atomic bomb. In George Orwell’s 1984 it came as the bombing were the Proles live as well as Winston going against the Party. The events in Japan as well as in 1984 can teach that certain actions taken can lead to destruction.
The constant fighting between Japan and the United States as well as the wars in 1984 caused irreparable damage. On the fated day of August 6, 1945 at 8:15 a.m. the very first atomic bomb was dropped over Hiroshima, Japan, three days later another bomb was dropped in Nagasaki, Japan on August 9 at 9:00 a.m (Fenton1-2). The actions Japan took ultimately led to its own destruction with the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On December 7, 1941, the day that will live in infamy, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii; that led the to the United States entering World War II (Majerol 2). Japan’s decision to attack led the United States military to retaliate. The United States retaliated by releasing the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. By attacking a greater force, like the United States, Japan led itself to its own destruction. In 1984 Winston made a similar decision by choosing to go against the Party. Winston was well aware of the fact that he was going something much stronger that himself, but he still decided to continue. This eventually led to his torturing and pain.
