Inhumanity Theme In Night By Elie Wiesel

In the memoir Night the narrator Elie Wiesel recounts a moment when Moishe the Beadle told him what happen when he was gone , “ Infants were tossed into the air and use as targets for the machine guns”(Wiesel 6). The Nazi’s didn’t treat the Jew’s as humans. As the author describes his experiences, many other example of inhumanity as revealed. Two significant themes related to inhumanity discussed in the book Night by Elie Wiesel are lots of faith and getting closer to love ones. One theme in Night is that inhumanity can cause lost of faith. To begin with when people are praying to god, Wiesel don’t pray. “ what are You, my God? I thought angrily. How do You compare to this stricken mass gathered to affirm to You their faith, their defiance?
In the being Wiesel's father was a distance man.later Wiesel and his father were closer than before.” He rarely display his feelings, not even within his family, and was more involved with the welfare of others than with at of his own kin”(Wiesel 4). Before they went to the camp, Wiesel and his father weren’t very close. When they are in the camp they have a greater bound. “I brought him water. Then I left the block for roll call. But I quickly turned back. I lay down on the upper bunk. The sick were allowed to stay in the block. So i would be sick. I didn’t want to leave my father”(Wiesel 111). Wiesel did not want to leave his father side , so he pretended to be sick. To sum up inhumanity in Night caused people to get closer to their love ones. It is not a normal world when babies are kill for targets. However, such world can exist when inhumanity is allowed to grow. The memoir Night as demonstrates that inhumanity causes loss of faith and also causes people to become getting closer to their love ones. If people had truly understood the inhumanity of the holocaust at the time then maybe the world would have done more to unite and stop
