Ingvar Kamprad vs Steve Jobs
Ingvar Kamprad and Steve Jobs are two people that have set their footmark forever on this planet. Ingvar Kamprad is founder of the great furniture empire, IKEA. Steve Jobs is best known as one of the co-founders of Apple, the most valuable company on earth. Both these business gurus are huge role models of mine and have definitely changed my way of thinking in several ways.

Mr. Kamprad could be any 85-year-old white man with his faded coat, tinted prescription glasses and scuffed shoes; he looks like just another pensioner scraping by on a tight budget. Even though Steve Jobs left us as a 65 year old, together with his famous black mock turtleneck, blue mom jeans and cheap tennis shoes, they both shared a simple way of dressing.

According to a journal, Steve jobs was born and raised in a Californian lower-middle class suburban neighborhood as an adoptive child. Mr. Job’s mom was an accountant and dad was a machinist for a company that made lasers. He grew up in a neighborhood of engineers working on electronics and other gadgets in their garages on weekends. This shaped his interest in the field as he grew up. In contrast to Steve´s childhood, Ingvar was born and raised on a big farm in Sweden. According to magazine, Ingvar is a second-generation Swede. His grandfather brought the family from Germany to Sweden and was a landlord back in Germany. Ingvar´s parents were very poor farmers and he had a very limited childhood, monetarily (Internet).

Following high school graduation, Jobs enrolled at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Although he dropped out after only one semester, he was fortunate enough to have the college opportunity in difference to Ingvar. Ingvar Kamprad had dyslexia as a child but gradually went on to both high school and officer training with good grades even though it was tough for him. Ingvar was never given the opportunity of enrolling a college.

The group of Swedish people came to America mainly for job opportunities. They started to travel here in the 1840s when a group o pioneers started a migration tradition between certain areas in the United States. This caused what they call, colonies, to form in settlements including: western Illinois, Iowa, central Texas, southern Minnesota, and western Wisconsin. The population overgrowth in Sweden was a major reason for the people of Sweden to leave their home country. Religion beliefs and political reasons also played a role for families to travel to America. My family came here looking for just simply more opportunities. When the family arrived in New York they were ready to find a home after a dreadful trip on their ship. It was my great-great grandparents, Peter and Marie(7 moths pregnant), who traveled with their four children: Anna, Martha, and Hulda to America. Hulda died when they landed but suffered most of the voyage from measles. The Sundvall Family name is a confusing story. My great-grandfather's grandpa's family all came to America together but Lars stayed in Sweden because he was in the military. In the military Lars changed his name from Lars Larson to Lars Sundvall because he was told to change his name because there were already too many Larsons in the military. He chose this name because it was a large city in Sweden. Meanwhile his family in America had all remained Larsons. After Lars got married and had eight children and stayed settled in Sweden. Peter was the oldest, my great-great grandfather, and he was the one who traveled here with my family.…

Steve Jobs: The Face of Apple. Is it any wonder that he was named Fortune Magazine’s CEO of the Decade (Lashinsky, 2009)? As the co-founder of Apple, he and Steve Wozniak invented the Macintosh personal computer. This was just the beginning. After being removed from his position at Apple by a CEO he had sought out, Jobs created the NeXT Computer. Although it did not fulfill his personal ambitions, it was used in developing the original World Wide Web (Crunchbase, 2010). Apple then purchased NeXT and Jobs returned to Apple with the purchase.…
