Informative Speech Outline
Intro: Since they are top predators, Sumatran tigers are important because they maintain the balance between all animals and plants, predators and prey within the forest ecosystem. As students from Mizzou, our mascot is nevertheless, a tiger. Moreover, tigers are very regal and magnificent animals, and having an awareness of endangered animals can be very beneficial for humans. Before I first declared a major in college, I wanted to be a zoology major. I have always been interested in many different kinds of animals, specifically big cats. My aspirations many years ago included one day working for WWF or National Geographic. The Sumatran tiger is an incredible animal and should be acknowledged for many important reasons. I will begin by discussing the background of the animal, distinguishing their features in comparison to other tiger species and their ability to be a key display of biodiversity in their habitat. How and why these animals have become endangered is important to acknowledge as well as the laws that have been put in place to protect the Sumatran Tigers.

TRANSITION: Even through dwindling numbers and near-extinction, tigers still continue to be the biggest cat in all of the animal kingdom.

A. The Sumatran Tiger is the top predator of its own multifarious ecosystem. 1. Sumatran Tigers are the smallest tiger subspecies a. These tigers are much smaller than other tigers, can also be up to 8 feet long and as a result they have been called ‘slender but powerful predators’.
b. Experts believe that they are smaller in size due to the limited natural habitat for them to live and thrive in.
c. They are also smaller in size due to the prey that they consume, which is smaller than what other species of tigers have access to.
2. The Sumatran Tiger has a very particular but unnoticeable appearance in contrast to other tiger subspecies.
a. According to researchers, the Sumatran tiger has the darkest

One of the most interesting primates living on this earth is the Siamang gibbon. I first found these primates interesting while I was at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago years ago because of their unique sound they make with their giant throats that sounds like a howl but has rhythm like a song. They have distinct features unlike other gibbons and they sure know how to make a scene or at least noticeable to visitors. Although my visit was very vague, these primates are still imprinted in my memory.…

Overall, Smilodon was more robustly built than any extant cat, with particularly well-developed forelimbs and exceptionally long upper canines. Its jaw had a bigger gape than that of modern cats and its upper canines were slender and fragile, being adapted for precision killing. S. gracilis was the smallest species at 55 to 100 kg (120 to 220 lb) in weight. S. fatalis had a weight of 160 to 280 kg (350 to 620 lb) and height of 100 cm (39 in). Both of these species are mainly known from North America, but remains from South America have also been attributed to them. S. populator from South America is perhaps the largest known felid at 220 to 400 kg (490 to 880 lb) in weight and 120 cm (47 in) in height. The coat pattern of Smilodon is unknown, but it has been artistically restored with plain or spotted patterns.…
