Informative Speech Animal Abuse

Informative Essay
Animal Abuse When I was younger, I was riding around on my four-wheeler with my friend and found a dead dog. I asked why it was tied to the center-block and what happened to it, my friend told me some people had took it down here and shot it because he wasn’t a good enough hunting dog. Was that any reason to shoot it? There are a lot of ways to abuse animals; neglect, abandoning, starving, chaining them up, shooting them, and making them fight each other. Neglect of an animal has many meanings; starving, abandoning, chaining them up, and beating them. One way people neglect animals is starving them, they don’t feed them or show their appreciation, but yet the animal stays around the house and loves you despite of what you do. Another way is chaining them up, what can they do? What did they do? They are meant to be free; most animals that are chained up usually are more aggressive and usually die. They get sick from being outside 24/7, they get sores on their necks, the chains get to tight and they choke themselves, they can hang themselves by getting the chain or rope wrapped up in trees or on their houses. Another way is abandoning animals- they are left behind and don’t understand where you went. They stay at your houses and never leave or they are pinned up and can’t leave. They are usually starving, dehydrated, sick, and everything else that could happen. They are faithful till the end. Making animals fight each other is just wrong; these animals are raised by themselves, made mean and aggressive for this reason. These animals only do this because they want to please their owner who they think loves them. They are put in a pen to fight till the death; they are only protecting themselves and usually are taught to act this way. People make bets and are sick enough to watch their pets get killed and cut up and bloody. The rules to these horrible fights are simple. Each animal is made sure to be in good shape or strong,

"I think animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers." This is a quote by an unknown author referring to the inaccuracy of animal testing. So our question is, why do companies and industries spend thousands of dollars a year on these tests? That is something I would like to know, along with many other people. Rodents are typically the animals that are used in cancer research, however, rats are only 37% effective in determining the cause of cancer in humans. There are many ways in which people tend to abuse of animals. An example is neglect, meaning that between a pet and the owner there is a “failure to provide an animal with the most basic of requirements of food, water, shelter and veterinary care” (What). Dogfighting is another example. Dogfights are events when two dogs are put inside a fighting pit and are forced to fight until the other one is dead or is too weak to fight back. The fights are brutal and the owners abandon the loosing dogs with only a couple more hours to live because of its deadly injuries or inhumanly kill the dogs themselves. The winning dog owner gets a money price. Most of the dogs that are considered to not be good enough to be entered in the pit and be victorious are used as bait to train other dogs or as breeding dogs where they are constantly exploited. All of these actions that people inflict on the animals can make them become very scared of humans, other dogs and their surroundings causing them to be very…

    1. ATTENTION GETTER: Millions of animals are abused each year. Over a million of these animals are abused or killed just due to the involvement with domestic violence. Despite animal cruelty being a felony which can result in jail time for over 15 years and 500,000 dollars in fines, it is still an issue which occurs on a daily basis across the United States. It is important for these animals to not go unnoticed, which can be achieved if society became more enlightened and educated on the topic of animal cruelty. (Pacelle, 2011).…

Anything that can cause pain and suffering to an animal is animal neglect. Animal abuse is a topic that most people are aware of in this day and age. But to clarify this is not going to be a speech appealing to the pity of Sarah McLachlan's song during animal cruelty commercials. Believe me this topic is truly sad, but its gets worse when you look into the current problems. I will elaborate on what is currently being done. The SPCA is a very large benefactor in stopping animal abuse as many of you probably know by their numerous commercials asking for donations and public awareness but they cannot take this entire burden on their shoulders alone. The type of animal abuse I would like talk about is specific to farm animals. This is a particular topic that many people do not consider. The example i am going to use first is the life of a cow and then elaborate on chickens. A female cow on a dairy farm is repetitively impregnated, again, and again for the production of milk. Hundreds of cows residing on thousands of dairy farms across america are artificially inseminated to constantly produce milk for our consumption. After a time of nine months the cow gives birth to a calf, within hours or a day the calf is taken from the mom and transported to a veal…

“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing”-Albert Einstein. Abuse towards animals occurs when humans cause harm to animals intentionally or unintentionally. Animal Cruelty during the Victorian Era is similar to the present day because people beat animals as punishment. However in the present day more people are hoarding animals as a result of being emotionally troubled rather than having a criminal motive, and people have started to stand up against abusive behavior towards animals.…

Animal cruelty can be anywhere and done by anyone. Many people think of animals, especially cats and dogs, as disposable. They get a puppy for the children for Christmas only to realize it is a lot of work that the children are not ready for. They forget to feed and water it, don 't take it for walks, and don 't take it outside to use the bathroom. The solution, abandon it or just take it to the humane society. They 'll get another when the kids are older. An animal that is used to being taken care of by humans cannot fend for itself when it is dumped. It slowly starves or gets attacked by other animals. Many people will shoot stray animals with bbs to chase them away from their property. The animal becomes hurt or aggressive…

We as humans have five senses, to touch, smell, taste, see, and hear; dogs also have these same exact senses. The fact that dogs can feel when they are touched should be reason enough not to put the animal in the ring to fight. Dogs can feel if they are being pet, as well as if they are being harmed. They can feel pain while being harmed just as humans can. In our society it would be seen as unjust and wrong to force a human to fight another person, and this is because the human could possibly be seriously injured. People need to realize that it is the same for dogs. The dogs could get seriously injured or even die in these kinds of vicious fights.…
