I. Having/Making Money First Main Point
A. Good education=good job=good pay
B. Always strive to make an extra buck
1. If work offers you more hours, there is no need to turn it down. C. When you make the money from working, you have your money and you keep it in your bank.
1. Pay very close attention to your bank account. When spending money, write down every transaction you make whether it is using a debit/credit card or cash and include the dollar amount and what you purchased. This makes you more aware of what exactly you are spending and on what and can eliminate pointless spending.

Transition: Having a significant other and their income on top of yours may make you two feel wealthy…but it can be a trap!

II. The Two Income Trap Second Main Point
A. People may think they can afford a decent home based on the income of them and their significant other; however, this is how a lot of people are ending up bankrupt in this poor economic time we are experiencing. With two people in the workforce, that makes it twice as likely someone will get laid off, fired, or become ill. B. The two income trap

We will overcome the struggles of this problem by knowing in our heads that it is just temporary and when I get a job, we can go back to the way we were used to doing things when there were two incomes. Fundamentally, the traditional one-career family was symbiotic by design. Both partners mutually reinforce each other's role thereby boosting the capability of each to succeed. While the women cared for the household, raised the children and handled day-to-day errands, the men were in charge of procuring employment and sourcing economic opportunities. He may occasionally assist with family affairs but his involvement was centered primarily on his career with family time as a secondary responsibility. The wife, on the other hand, may be involved with the husband's work-related activities and financial obligations but the family remained as her ultimate priority. In such a setup, a wife through marriage consequently became economically dependent on a husband, and in turn he became emotionally dependent on her.…

Over two thirds of people under the age of twenty four realize they do not know enough about finances, and are losing money because of it (Norvilitis). The reason young adults lack this knowledge is because schools rarely have financial classes. Even if such classes are offered, students see few reasons to take them, as getting accepted into prestigious colleges may require classes like math and science instead of those. Another problem is the parents, who do not teach their kids enough about finances and how they work. Children rarely seem to have the knowledge growing up about the importance of finances, saving money, and being cautious with spending your money. When it is not taught at school, it becomes the responsibility of the parents to assume that role, a role that many times is not filled. Without the correct knowledge, many children grow up lacking the thought of keeping track of their expenses, paying taxes, and putting money into…

Six months ago, corporate daycare facilities were cleaning out my bank account. I was losing the ability to pay for gas, rent and my utilities because all my money was going towards my son’s weekly daycare tuition. My parents could help me scrap on by here and there but that wasn’t there responsibly. It was then that my mother suggested that I should look into putting my son into a local licensed in home daycare facility opposed to a major corporate daycare facility. I was a little skeptical at first, but I was willing to look into a facility that could possibly save me a lot of money. I’m not an expert on daycare facilities but with my experience of working for a franchised facility and being a single mother and college student on a budget, it has given me the knowledge to advise others. For the purpose of my speech, I want to inform my audience on the different types of daycare facilities, the tuition and what to look for in choosing a facility.…
