Infant Observation
Infant Observation Findings: Obiel Macedo, a one year and seven month old infant accomplished many tasks on the developmental checklist. I went to his house, his mother and baby sister were present while I was with him. As we sat down on the floor I handed the infant a small container filled with different size blocks. He immediately grabbed the container, poured out the blocks and began to build a tower quickly. Once he was done creating the tower of blocks, a few seconds later he knocked it down vigorously and started all over again. Then, I handed him a red crayon and a blank sheet of paper, but instead of writing on the paper he went up to the wall and scribbled spontaneously. Next, his language is still developing at …show more content…
It is important to speak to your child as much as you can so they will be able to gain knowledge about social interactions. They learn what to say in different situations whether it is a happy, sad or frustrating moment. He learned how to respond to different situations depending who he was with. Infants respond to all reinforcements during their development and the parents are the ones who nurture them at this time(pg.6 Child Development book.) When I took the infant’s favorite toy out of his sight and hid it he knew he had to search for it. Obiel was clever enough to know that his toy still existed if it is still in his house, this is referred as object permanence(pg.33 Child Development book.) He collected information and his own knowledge to gain his knowledge about objects. No matter what the situation is the object will be there. If you been in other situations where an object has gone missing but you know it is somewhere, you put in effort to look for it or you have support from others to let you know what …show more content…
I noticed that he did not want me to carry him when I arrived at his house, that is because he still did not have that comfort zone with me or the trust. He observed me carefully by the way I acted toward him and his mom. He realized that me his mom got along well and he began to talk to me more. If we look at Konrad Lorenz’s theory about bonding it says that you are born to need something(pg.4 Child Development book.) He attached to his mother and little sister; when they are not present he starts to panic but then realizes they will be back. Erickson’s stages of Psychosocial development says that you go through stages to get where you want. For instance, at the beginning the infant seemed to be shy and reserved. Then he realized that he could trust me and he needed to get to know me to see that I had good intentions with him.(pg.5 Child Development

I observed a child throwing a fit at the mall the other day. This child did not want to leave the store and did not want to get into her stroller. She started to throw her head back and scream very loudly. Then she would throw her arms around and kick, in an attempt to not be strapped in. The mother started to yell at her daughter to stop while trying to strap her in. After a few minutes of the child kicking and screaming she was able to strap her in. But the child continued to scream, this was when the mother decided to leave the mall. My recommendation is that instead of trying to force the child into the stroller the parent could have held the child. Trying her best to calm her down, since the child was throwing around her body while the…

This observation took place in the child’s grandmother home. Her name is Laila and she is a 9 months old and she is a bright little girl with pretty black hair and she had 3 ponytails with hair bows and barrettes. I was invited over by the child’s grandmother; we have been friends since high school. We were sitting in the Living room of the house, the grandmother and I were sitting on the sofa which was black and gray and Laila was playing on the floor where her grandmother had placed a big blanket which had the cartoon character of the Angry Birds. There were baby toys placed on floor such as a stuffed animal, red and yellow rattle, orange teething room. The blinds were open and the sun shining in bright on the clean white walls. There was a black computer desk and chair sitting in the corner of the living room with a screensaver showing a picture of my friend and her family.…

Through positive relationships children respond to eye contact, verbal and non-verbal interaction; they anticipate and initiate communication with others, learning to respond in many ways. Children do this through listening to others, watching and imitating them and through joining in with rhymes, stories and games using sounds and words. In this way they learn to attend to important features of communication and to respond, eventually being able to divide their attention between what is being said and what they are doing.…

Social: How children speak to one another, and the words they use, is a huge learning curve in how others will treat them depending on what they say and how they say it. Tommy is sitting on the floor with his toys around him. His teacher sits on the floor next to him and he begins to hand his teacher a series of toys. He is interested in the reaction of his teacher as he hands her his blocks, one by one. Tommy leans forward, grabs a block and hands it to his teacher. He watches her face and sort of drops his mouth open as he waits for her reaction. She then tells him the letter and color on the block. He nods his head forward and then reaches for another block and proceeds to pick up another block. After picking up 5 blocks and handing them to his teacher he then crawls across the floor to a toy car and pushes it for a moment. He looks up at his teacher to see what she is doing and pushes the car toward her. He smiles at her and she smiles back and says “Is that your car?” he smiles again and nods his head forward. Tommy is very interested in his teacher’s reaction to him. She continues to watch him even when he is interested in a toy or moving away from her. He does check to see if she is pay attention to him as he plays. His teacher starts picking up toys and organizing the room and he periodically goes over to her and becomes interested in what she is doing. Tommy seems very dependent on his teachers mood. He smiles when she smiles and if she is distracted he wants to obtain her attention and seems to gauge and react to her facial expressions. It seems that their relationship is positive and his teacher is very…

He showed much curiosity towards the tripod and even began to grope the object tremendously. In fact, Kyungson showed more attention to the tripod then his own two cousins, Jessica and Tiffany, who fought for his attention and affection. While playing with the child, Tiffany would lift the black tripod from side to side in an attempt to get it out of his view, but to her surprise Kyungson had developed the ability to look for the object and could use his eyes to recognize the moving object and from there worked to move closer to the object. Such ability, showed signs that Kyungson had developed a mental representation of the object and by learning that objects are separate entities that could exist on their own outside the individual’s perception produced the capability for infants to begin to attach words and names to…

On the day 6th of the month 9th of the year 2012 I observed the infant Alonso Herrera Rivera. Alonso is three months and a week old, his weight is 17Ibs with 7oz his height is 26in. The infant has a round head, dark brown hair with dark brown Chinese eyes, and rosy cheeks with dimples when he smiles and has a light skin complexion. Alonso is wearing a dark blue cowboy jersey with a dark wash blue jeans and blue hi top converse. When I arrived his mother was putting him on his crib, as he is laying he moves his arm like if he was stretching and stares at the celling. He kicks and moves his hand towards his mouth; he sucks his hands for a while and drools. The infant gets his hands out of his mouth and tries to lift his head like if trying to get u; he attempts doing this three times and gives up. Alonso continues to suck his hand and kick, his mother passes next to his crib and he stares at her she starts talking to him and he responds with a “GUU” “GUU””GUU”. My infant observation, Christopher Myles Honeycutt, born January 21st, 2014. At 9:45am I arrived at Chris' home, which he was just waking up and getting his diaper changed. By 10am Chris was in his bouncy chair, while his parents made him and his brother breakfast. By 10:15am his father was feeding him cinnamon apple oatmeal, which he seemed to enjoy it because he ate 8oz of it in 15 minutes, but because he kept grabbing at his spoon he ended up with an ounce or two on him. (Feeding time is a good example of Erikson's Trust vs. Mistrust stage, because Chris' is trusting his father to feed him.) At 10:30 the mother prepares a bath for him, as she bathes him he smiles, kicks up water, laughs, and claps. (These are all signs of good sensorimotor.) By 11am he was bathed, powdered, dressed and put in his play area. Chis only sits in his play area before he starts getting fussy and begins yelling and babbling then precedes to get up and uses the couch to walk. (Which is a little early for him to walk according to a national average which is nine months). As Chris kept trying to leave his area, his parents would put him right back in his play area. (This learning process is called Operant Conditioning). And though Chris was getting really frustrated with his parents, he still continued to do it until about 11:45am, which was the time his dad came over to change his diaper. At 11:50am Chris and his father began to play and as his father tickled and played with Chris he showed great signs of social responses, like baby babbling, and laughing, and being shocked by his father hiding behind the couch and popping back up. (This shows me, he has normal brain development because he understand what’s going on and has reactions to actions around him.) After about an hour of playing Chris begins to get really upset, he was screaming, crying, and began chewing on his hands. So immediately his father put a binky in his mouth which he spits out and continues crying, a minute later…
