There are Two different types of people in the world. Some people believe that the only way to get stuff done is by doing it yourself. They attempt to be completely independent because it is difficult for them to trust others. Other people are dependent on others to help them with everything they do. It all depends on their personality. I have learned over time that the ones who will succeed in life, are the ones who accept help from others.…
Many learning techniques are nails being pounded into our brains in school daily: classroom-based learning, overemphasized homework, and mundane lectures. These tedious methods are outdated and simply do not effectively teach students. Being the son of an experienced educator, I am slightly pressured into believing these ideas are the correct way to learn. I learned many facts and observations without having to sit at a desk, without having homework, and without having to listen to a boring lecture. I learned that it can be beneficial to learn in a hands-on and practical fashion rather than a typical style of learning used in schools. I would have gone home from school that day the same person I was when I arrived. Without practical experience, information is useless in affecting me.…
Teaching is not just for preparing lessons, presenting them, and grading papers. Teachers must also be aware if a student is having difficulties outside the classroom. They must do more than go through the motions of teaching and truly teach. Each student must be involved in the classroom and students having trouble outside of school should be given extra time for assignments during school hours. Students should not be just passed along and given the grade but should be helped where needed. When a student asks for help in class the teacher generally helps that student. This is no different for a student having trouble at home. They should be given help as well. The student with trouble at home should be given extra attention and time in class if needed.…
New Perspectives on Andragogy By: Kimberly Miller Principles and Application of Adult Learning-5 Week 9- Individual Work 1. LEARNERS NEED TO KNOW • The primary core principle for adult learners is their need to know “ why” before they begin engaging in the learning process and they should be engaged in the planning of their learning. • When adults engage in the planning of their learning helps to stratify their need to know and also appeals to their self – concept as a independent learner.…

I have always been a student who would have benefited from an open classroom. I always wanted to learn something I wanted to learn. I did not like being told what I had to learn. In the eighth grade, I was put into a math class that was not hard enough for me but I soon learned that there was no way to get out of it. So the teacher and I made a deal, that I could go through the ninth grade textbook and learn what I wanted. I just had to take the eighth-grade math tests. I was so happy because it was the closest thing to working on what I wanted to learn.…
While there clearly are students for whom only minimal support is required throughout the day, the practice is not generally recommended. All children benefit from some time without direct supervision, enabling them to gain in independence and mix socially with their peer group. On the other hand, it is not possible for a busy class teacher to deliver an appropriately flexible and differentiated curriculum on their own, without disadvantaging the rest of the class.…
As I would see it, my secondary school was dislike this. We had educators that utilized this methodology, however the best instructors at our secondary school utilized different techniques. While Freire discusses the customary method for educating, my secondary school ensured that we learned by including ourselves in the subjects. For instance, I took an administration learning class my senior year in which I burned through two days a week serving our group and groups around our town. This was an extremely novel open door that let me truly find out about myself and this present reality.…
Every student is not the same and by making all students learn the same way is not the correct way to go about it. Why should the child I am responsible for educating continue to be pushed along with the crowd in a subject they are struggling? Vice versa, why should the child I am responsible for educating be held back in a course they are highly knowledgeable in. The effects of the one size fits all approach is outdated and causes much more harm than good. Being pushed along in a struggling course would make the child lose enthusiasm quickly and being held back would only keep the child from reaching their full potential. An individualized approach is an overlook guiding principle that every student should have the option to…

Sorana Constantinescu facilitated an insightful lecture and discussion. This discussion was based on her experimental findings while researching the misogynistic attitudes in Romanian women. From this discussion I was able to gather that this country has communist ideology that has been very deeply ingrained into the culture and the mindset of the Romanian population. With these ideologies being so deeply ingrained within the society it has hindered the country's progress when it comes to facilitating the discussion for gender equality along the lines of the political and social spectrum. The…
When it come to my academic success I don’t mind asking for help. I feel that it’s better to receive the right understanding then to learn something wrong and just be wrong. If I get personal counseling I could more than likely be more self-aware. You can never really go wrong with being self- aware. My attitude towards educators could either make or break the preparation for me. Being positive creates helpful relationships with my instructors and be used the same way to create an positive relationship with my future…
I believe that as a teacher all students should know that, he/she is top priority. Each student is a unique and individual butterfly, which will evolve and develop in his or her own way. Each student should be allowed to learn in that manner. My students should experience learning that is fun, exciting and interactive. Learning should be a hands’ on…
Some people may argue that students will never realize the positives of homework unless they are instilled by teachers. This may be true in a sense; however it is necessary for students growing individuals, to independently discover these facts. For learning beyond schooling is generally all independent and self learning.…
Fellow teachers, staff and friends, have you ever put yourself in an independent student’s shoes? Being independent means that you have a lot more responsibilities than usual, things are not given to you anymore – you have to research, structure and present whatever subject you’re based on – your time is pressed up and you have to roughly consider the tasks at hand.…
