Incident 19426 Essay
EREPORT # 19426 stated the following: The incident occured on 3-7-16.
Joniya was seen unsupervised walking towards the WIC office in which she had to cross a busy street. Joniya had no shoes on and her family was not aware that she had left the home until notified by DHS staff. DHS staff was informed by another DHS staff member that the child was seen walking from the home. The mother stated that she was asleep and that her other children were supposed to be watching the child. This family has been involved with DHS in the past and has had an open case. The child was unsupervised outside the home and had wandered away from the home.

    In Arizona, the state legislature is a citizen legislature. What that means is instead of having career politicians running the legislature, Arizona’s legislature is run by the citizens. A legislator in Arizona must be at least 25 years of age, an Arizona resident for three years, a county resident (of the county they wish to represent) for one year, a registered voter, and English proficient. These qualifications are weak when you consider the qualifications for President but, Arizona sought to be-rid career politician for fear that they would become corrupt. Arizona’s citizens also wanted someone they could relate to so most legislators are small business owners or work in real estate, banking, or insurance. The term limits for legislators contradict the want to be-rid career politicians. A legislator only has to sit out of the election for a two year term then they can run for office again. Because of this contradiction I feel they should not have a raise. Not only were the legislators intended to be part-time, they were intended to be regular citizens. A raise would make it easier to have full-time, career politicians. Although $24,000 is a mere amount for a full time job, being an Arizona state legislator is not a full time job. However, one could argue that the time spent in meetings as a legislator when the rules were made is in fact different and more time consuming now. When Arizona first became a state the legislature was only in session for roughly 100 days. In 2010, the legislature was in session for 217 days. That means the legislators only had 148 days for the other job they were committed to. Even though they seem to not have time for the other job, they should have taken into consideration that the governor can call special meetings that the legislator has to be present for. These meetings could last a couple days to a couple months. That hardly seems like a schedule most people would be willing to keep up with. But, I feel that the original…

    The Second World War is often remembered as the “Good War” for the American’s heroic stand against the Nazis and the Japanese, but the moniker overly simplifies what many consider “history’s greatest catastrophe.” Images of heroic American soldiers bravely sacrificing their livelihoods and breath to bring freedom to Europe were plastered across the 1940’s media to rally support for the War, perhaps cementing the “Good War” characterization in American memory. However, the sixty years that have followed WWII have uncovered many American behaviors that undermine the ‘goodness’ of the War and question the “Greatest Generation.” Stories of Japanese internment camps, racial and gender inequality, and the horrific atomic bombings of Japanese cities call into question the validity of the American fight for liberty and democracy so valiantly portrayed in Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan. However, the undeniable heroism and sacrifice of the American soldiers and the nation’s economic successes upon returning home have deservedly earned these monikers.     While the United States was trying to negotiate terms of peace with Japan, no one knew or had an idea that the Japanese had made a decision to make war on the United States and Britain. This resulted in the bombing of Pearl Harbor since this was the only barrier to a Japanese victory. At around eight in the morning, on December 7th 1941, the Japanese launched a massive attack on the United States Naval Base, Pearl Harbour. This massive bombing attack was a key factor contributing to the internment of Japanese Canadians. In the novel, The Whirlwind, Ben Friedman a fourteen year old boy of Jewish culture escapes the anti-Semitism in Germany, and flees to America. There, he meets a friend named John who is of Japanese descent. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, John and his family are sent to Internment camps due to the fact that they were Japanese, possibly because they could be spies. Thousands of Japanese Canadians in Canada were sent to several Internment camps. Inside these camps, the Japanese had to live in poor conditions and work hard, while frequently getting subjected to racism and prejudice. However, even before the war, Japanese Canadians were targets of anti-rioting and they were even set aside as second-class citizens. It is evident that the Japanese Canadians in the internment camps were treated unfairly by the Canadian government due to the fact that they were frequently getting subjected to racism and prejudice inside or outside of internment camps, they were forced to work and live in terrible conditions, and the fact that the government had promised to keep all the Japanese people’s valuables in safekeeping, but in the end, everything was auctioned off.…
