In The Coffee Shop
In the coffee shop. I learned how to serve our customers, treat them well, and make them feel comfortable. We provide courteous and efficient food and beverage services to the customer, present them the menu, take order, suggest and recommend appropriately.

To attend and respond to them their needs promptly and professionally. In all cases primary duty is to provide good customer service, take orders, and deliver food. In most situations, we are expected to answer questions regarding the menu. Work closely with other wait staff and the kitchen to ensure the restaurant is operated efficiently. We are responsible in the big part of the dining experience, offering suggestions and recommendations, such as wine pairings. We must have to personalize the meal and ensure that our service is more attentive and formal.

In restaurant with revolving menus, we need to meet with kitchen staff or managers daily prior to service to discuss that day's offerings. Topics in these meetings may include specials, food preparation, and ingredients used, especially if they may be a potential allergen to some diners. We have also the other duties such as processing the payment, greeting customers cleaning tables and dining area and also setting tables. I also learned that being a server is not easy. We must make our self-neat all the time, give our best to smile the guest even though we are already tired but being a server is priceless because seeing the customer happy with your service makes yourself proud. :”)

Their attention was focused on the task at hand and there was no sight of anyone being unproductive. When we entered the restaurant, we were given a warm and friendly greeting by a hostess. The wait for a table on a Friday night was only about 20 minutes, and the electronic guest caller made the waiting experience hassle free. From the time we were sat, and throughout the entire dining experience, we never felt rushed and all of our requests were accommodated. We observed all staff conduct themselves in a professional manner. Training was evident in the manner we were spoken to, especially when the server suggested a number of items seamlessly. She displayed a great deal of product knowledge and was not too pushy when it came to…

Waiter have to memorize the meun and know the selection of each plate. For a new waiter it's challenging knowing the whole meun early on and it takes experience to know the meun. For example, Lou's meun contains ninety main course with a variety of appetizers, side dishes, drinks and to understand it all takes an expertise of the meun. What you know and what you don't know can affect the choice a costumer makes. A waiter not being able to describe a dish will mostly likely not be ordered by the costumer. The waiters also have an abundance amount of patience dealing with different people everyday. I'm costumer that doesn't like to change the preperation of the plate and i'll order a plate that I won't have to change. There are sometimes when i'll change one small thing from the plate, but other than that I just order the meal how it comes. I know some people that like to change almost everything about the order and it makes it harder for the waiter. This reading made me realize that there is more to being a waiter that requires a skill that can't be thought, but learned through…
