In praise of the F word
Education is the most important thing in every person’s life. It’s more like your sword for your future. Every individual who has a proper education and absolutely educated cannot be underestimate by other people because they have the dignity and power, and some people will think that they are very well respected person like the politicians. My essay is all about education specifically about the automatic passing systems in high school and its effects to their future employers and also for themselves. In the article “In praise of the F word”, Mary Sherry (1991) argues whether automatic passing systems in high school have a positive or negative impact on employers. In her article she claims that “passing students who have not mastered the work cheats them and the employers who expect graduates to have basic skills” (para.8). I do agree that automatic passing in high schools have a massive and many negative impacts on employers. There are three reasons why. First, students will lack of skills in the future. Second, teenagers will have difficulties applying for their future education which is College or University. Last is it would be really hard for them to keep their job or stay in their workplace. First of all, the negative effect of automatic passing systems in high school to students is the lack of skills because young people like them don’t really have enough knowledge to pass the course but teachers just considered the students to pass which is not right. If they don’t have all the skills for the specific course, they must finish and make sure to literally pass the course in the second time or else it would be their loss or failure in the future. Every employee is looking for different skills that are needed to the specific job. Some high schools in the Philippines have the automatic passing systems.
