The Colorado River is one of the greatest water sources of America, providing water for seven states and Mexico. Water is the most important resource we need for survival, and I feel like most people do not appreciate this resource. We do not realize that water is an essential part of life; we keep wasting water like if there is no tomorrow and I think this will lead us to misery someday soon. If this situation doesn’t change, in the future, wars will be fought for water, instead of being fought for land or other political conflicts.
I grew up wasting hundreds of gallons of water, without realizing how important water was for us, without realizing that the water I wasted could have been used for other thing or even could have been used for other people who really needed it. Saving water is really important for two reasons: 1- It saves you a lot of money, and 2, the most important, you are helping preserving nature. I didn’t grow up in Colorado, so I didn’t even know about the existence of the Colorado until 2 years ago. I had the opportunity to go rafting in the Colorado River two years ago as part of my school’s summer trip, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. The water really cold and refreshing, the river was just so beautiful that I don’t think there are words to describe how beautiful it looked on a hot summer day. I’ve been a different person since then, I always save as much water as I can, I helped my family realize how important saving water is, and most importantly, I’m always thinking how our planet would change if we stop wasting its natural resources, the resources that keep us alive. In this trip I hope to learn a lot of new ways to preserve water.
It’s very sad that the Colorado River is drying up, because it has been there for thousands of years and it practically, provides us the water we use every single day. Without the Colorado River, life would be different here in the western United
