Importance Of Hartsfield-Jackson Airport's Moon Calendars
Students were told Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is trying to figure out the best nights to fly without having to use artificial light, which causes light pollution. To assist the airport, students created a moon calendar for the month of August. The calendar illustrate the moon phases for any given day in the month of August. Also, students created a moon phase map key using cookies. Lastly, students created a bar graph and informational essay to exemplify what days have the most moonlight.

“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime, but little do the teenagers know that something sinister is waiting for them on the desolate surface of the moon.” (book jacket Harstad). Three teenagers have won the opportunity to go to the moon for a week, and this is how it happened. Mia, from Norway, is upset because her parents signed her up for the 2019 Moon Trip “raffle” so to speak, but, the thing is, she didn’t want to go. Midori, from Japan, is excited for this trip because she can be free and is able to explore different places other than Japan. Antoine, from France, just broke up with his cheating girlfriend and never wants to see her again. In the science-fiction book 172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad, the theme is that trying new things could have a positive impact on one’s life. Mia, Midori, and Antoine are all trying something new, and this experience could have a positive impact on their life, but unfortunately, some of them don't think so.…

Dad said midnight and unless Darrell could fly, I was headed for real trouble. Darrell and I chose to go to county fair and like every cliché couple, we had it set to go at sundown in order to get the perfect Instagram post. Luminous pinks, yellows, and blues sparkled a mile out as we caught our exit to enter the fair grounds. Vibrations under our toes grew heavier and heavier as we got closer to the entrance and with a $12 stamp on our right hand we ventured out on running feet. We spent our night soaring high and low with dangling feet, carrying weightless bags of fluffy, crystallized sugar as heavy gusts of wind hosed us leaving the aroma of fresh, crisp funnel cakes. Captivated by parading aisles of games had us lose complete track of time.…

Matsushima became Ph.D. adviser to them both, and during a total eclipse of the moon on December 30, 1963, he introduced them to the art of astronomical observation. Their “observatory” was a converted cornfield out in the middle of nowhere with a tiny telescope that hadn’t been used in years. The night of the eclipse also happened to be the coldest day of the year at thirty degrees below zero, but they stuck it out and that night produced a curve of the moon’s brightness as it passed through the Earth’s shadow. Normally,…

When I was 5 years old, I was adorable. Not to sound boastful, but it's true. I look at photos of myself back then, and I don't recognize that little boy. I had blond hair, blue eyes, and a winning smile. All I can think is, What the heck? I peaked in preschool? But I was 5, and like all kids that age, I didn't know what I had. In fact, I didn't want to be 5. I wanted to be 6.…

With light being a major part in what we can see, it also takes part in what we do in an outside setting. During the day is the best time to do things like bike riding, playing sports, or taking a walk; all things that could be dangerous at night. With the night being darker, it will begin to give off an obviously darker mood. With that in mind, the common activities change as well. People become less productive and either go to…
