Importance Of Gun Safety Essay
According to OSHA.gov, there are six steps to Nail Gun Safety which are: 1. Use the full sequential trigger
2. Provide Training
3. Establish nail gun work procedures
4. Provide personal protective equipment
5. Encourage reporting and discussion of injures and close calls
6. Provide first aid medical treatment In Step 1, it is said that the full sequential trigger is the safest trigger mechanism for the job and reduces the risk of unintentional nail discharge and a list of other things. Unintended nail discharge is very likely to lead to hand or arm injuries. Second, you should always provide safety training whether an employee is new or experienced. Typically, hands-on training using actual nailers. By using hands-on training, it gives the employees opportunities to figure out how to load a nail gun, how to operate the air compressor, how to fire the nail gun, how to hold lumber during placement work, etc. Training should also include areas such as first aid, PPE, injury reporting, etc.

One thing that you must make sure on the jobsite is that the tool manuals for the nails are readily available and that tool labels and instructions are being followed. You also must make sure that workers are not in the line of fire from the nail guns being operated by any co-workers. You always must shoot nail guns away from your body or your co-workers body. Something that is also essential is disconnecting the compressed are when the nailer is unattended, clearing jammed nails, passing the nail gun to someone, etc. You are never to use a nail gun with a non-dominant hand or have your finger on the trigger while carrying or holding the nail
