Implementing a Change Implementing a change in any field is a difficult task because not all individuals of the organization are accepting of change. When an organization restructures the goal is to have a positive effect on production, staff, and efficiency. When considering restricting management should consider all advantages and disadvantages to avoid a conflict. For example, SSI technologies, a manufacturer of gift cards, mailers, and paper advertisements is a company can be very profitable for the employees who don’t mind working a large amount of overtime. Several years ago the company experienced some loss because of the economic downturn and did several layoffs. The lays-off resulted in the loss of some very valuable employees. During this layoff the morale of employees changed because employees view security as high priority. The morale of the facility had taken a significant plummet and restructuring was in need for the organization to earn the loyalty, trust, and respect for their employees.
How manager should handle staff resistance to change Change is difficult for most people to adapt to however it is possible. Management has an important role when restructuring, he or she should consider not only the business outcome but also the personal outcome of all employees. It’s impossible to satisfy all employees but, it’s not impossible to earn the trust and respect of all employees. “Resistance to change is to be expected for a number of reasons: lack of trust, vested interest in the status quo, fear of failure, loss of status or income, misunderstanding, and belief that change is unnecessary or that it will not improve the situation” (Sullivan & Decker, 2009, p. 100).
Assessment
The organization has received numerous job orders amounting more than 30 million cards. The company has four major in house departments to develop the product. The departments consist of the laser department, which is responsible for laser printing the
