Rationale of the Study
The function of the feeding program is to give nutritious foods for less fortunate children who are malnourished in a certain area and also to impart knowledge to parents and also for children of what to eat in order to have a healthy body and to be away from any diseases. This requires a lot of preparation in order to deliver education effectively and appropriately in a simple and understandable ways. Because of this, it can help putting the children’s health status to normal. Malnourish is a dangerous condition where it can lead to numbers of illnesses due to low resistance and weak body.

Legarda filed a Senate Bill No. 1347 which calls for the activation of the “Healthy Food for Poor Children Program” by mandating the DSWD, DA, DOH, and DepEd to coordinate with each other and establish feeding programs in low-income communities and depressed areas. Although the government has several feeding programs, the spirit of this bill is to mitigate hunger especially among poor children and pregnant women.

As we have seen in our chosen area, the researchers were able to observe that most of the students studying there are malnourished and this is due to the fact that most of them are children of parents who are garbage collector, vendors, and no work at all. So with the effort of the city government, the school was able to conduct a feeding program for all students from grade one to 2

four. Through this observed facts, the researchers were really eager to research on the implementation of feeding program on the said school.
Due to the risk involved with the possible diseases that the children may acquire because of low resistance, the parents were encouraged to join the program for the benefit of their children. We are conducting this study with the hope of identifying ways to improve student’s health status especially those malnourished ones and to impart knowledge on what to take and not to take for them to be aware of the future problem that maybe present, thus allowing accurate and proper information order to lower down the number of children who are malnourished if not truly avoid risks thereby decreasing the tendency to acquire the possible illnesses.

Through this study, researchers will be able to know about the implementation of feeding program in relation to malnutrition of school-age children and what are its benefits towards them. The outcome of this study will help the authorities to identify if program was really implemented. Hence, this study will attempt to determine the satisfaction the school-age children has met regarding the feeding program offered through academic status as well as nutritional health status.
