Imperialism In World War 1

Militarism is the aggressive preparation for war. European states wanted to build up their military, but empire neighbors were reluctant to sit by and watch the build up of a military so neighboring empires feel forced to also build up their military. In the History book it states, “European armies doubled in size between 1890 and 1914.” From this I can suppose that, Europe wanted to make their army stronger than any other army, so they could defend themselves when they went to war. I can compare this to when Hitler created a really strong army that nobody could defeat. The author wrote, “Influential military leaders drew up vast and complex plans for quickly mobilizing millions of soldiers and enormous quantities of supplies in the event of war.” This demonstrates that they wanted to be ready just incase they were attacked. This shows that they wanted to be prepared just in case they were attacked by other nations.
I feel as if imperialism is the most significant to me out of all four of the examples. My reason being is because, this means people during this time probably lost houses and power due to the force of a ruler or emperor, and I couldn’t imagine on how hard that must be for a family to go through.
