Immigration to the United States and Guest Worker Program

Thesis Statement: Mexico has the highest rate of immigration to the U.S., but is this becoming a problem for the U.S. America is the largest country with immigrants; this is due to the fact that immigrants are willing to do odd jobs that no one wants, which brings them money and gives them a better opportunity in life what some may say is the American life. Many Mexicans are coming to America for many reasons; some people come to gain a better opportunity for them and their family; while others are looking to escape challenges in their homes. Some Americans think this is a change for the better, while others think otherwise. America is trying to clamp down on illegal immigration problem; to pass laws that would tighten the nation’s border and make it a felony to be in the country illegally. Some Americans have strong feelings about how dangerous to open our borders to illegal immigrants; for primarily the security threat on the America soil. Tim Kane and Kirk Johnson; doctors of philosophy from The Heritage Foundation Publication made a statement about the problem with illegal immigrants. “Efforts to curtail the economic influx of migrants actually worsen the security dilemma by driving many migrant workers underground. A non-citizen guest worker program is an essential component of securing the border, but only if it is the right program. There are numerous issues involved in such a program, but the evidence indicates that worker migration is a net plus economically.” (Kane and Johnson Pg1.) The argument that immigrants threat the security of American economy will always be a factor. Convincing cases can be made that illegal immigrants could hurt or help the American economy. The fact is that immigration problems will always exists in America.
