The immigration issue has been one of the most heated discussion topics in American politics for decades. The laws concerning the process of entry into our country have been abused and stepped on by foreigners that have illegally included themselves into our society. America has many flaws while executing certain legal concepts when conflicting amnesty, birth right citizenship, and economically dealing with illegal aliens. Amnesty is defined as the general pardon for offenses. “Those who enter the United States illegally should not be rewarded with permanent legal status or other such benefits and they should be penalized in any road to citizenship.” Illegal aliens are present in this country and they entered illegally. That matter is not up for debate. However, if they choose to wait a certain amount of time, they will become legal citizens, simply for being in the country, even if they entered illegally. “Those who enter and remain in the country illegally are violating the law and condoning or encouraging such violations increases the likelihood of further illegal conduct.” When citizens choose to break the law the first time by entering the country illegally, they take the risk of being penalized and the ones that are not caught serve no penalty. Therefore, they will be much more inclined to perform further illegal acts and break more laws once in the country knowing that their chances of getting caught are low due to previous experiences. The method in which we decide to apply Amnesty to our illegal immigrants needs revision because it is propelling the wrong message to whom it may concern. Immigrants from numerous countries, mainly Mexico, are being smuggled across our international borders in order to give birth to their expected child, inside the United States. “Pregnant women are said to enter the U.S. illegally or on tourist visas to drop a child so their babies will serve as anchors, dragging the rest of their relatives into citizenship under the priorities given to citizens seeking to unify families.” These pregnant women, who are breaking the law by entering our country, are taking advantage of the rights that are automatically given to a newborn. Then, as if that is not enough, they bring the rest of their family into the country legally, stating that they need to be with their child. “Eight percent of all babies born in the U.S. in 2008 belonged to illegal immigrant parents, according to a groundbreaking analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data by the Pew Hispanic Center.” This statistic illustrates an astonishing amount of the children in the U.S. were brought in by illegal aliens. There is no way that the entry of these children can be justified as morally correct, let alone legal.
Immigrants not only break our laws and get away with it, but cost us a lot of money in the process. “The economic and social consequences of illegal immigration… are staggering… illegal aliens have cost billions of taxpayers-funded dollars for medical services.” Taxes in America are quite high as it is. For the most part, they are worth it because of our unparalleled level of equalities and privileges. However, when our taxes go towards immigration issues that are not dealt with due to the ignorance of our ability to prioritize, it no longer seems fair or reasonable. Not only does it affect the country as whole but also individual states, where illegal immigration is more of a problem due to demographic issues. “Arizona has higher car insurance rates because legal immigrants who cross the border often steal cars that they use to enter the country.” It is ridiculous that they have let it stoop to this level and are even affecting car insurance rates. This affects us with our everyday encounters and expenses, excluding taxes. Illegal immigration has numerous cons. The United Sates is already seriously overpopulated and lawmakers need to crack down on illegal immigration. It leads to imbalance in natural wealth and human resources. America has many unresolved issues while executing certain legal concepts concerning amnesty, birth right citizenship, and economically dealing with illegal aliens.
