"I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU"

As I look into the future as far as I can see,
I can see nothing except you being with me.
You are in all of my dreams whether I'm awake or asleep,
My love for you is not going anywhere Because it's way to deep.Poiseidon's waters roil and roar
All up and down the craggy coast;
Their winedark waves have brought the host
Of foreign men all drunk for glory,
For the sake of one man's vanity
They traveled to your alien shore
To write with blood and bone a story
Of the Gods' capriciousness towards men,
Of passion's triumph over sanity
Which they shall repeat: again, again.

The men will surge against your city walls
Ten long and doleful years;
As your children, born to violence, shriek, and widows' tears
Appeal to you, their hero Prince,
To drive them back to whence they came
As your father walks the palace halls,
As does his shade now, ever since -
Ever since you went out to face the foe
And pass to time your noble name,
Their legend and their martyr, hope and woe.

It would be asked by what Creed you chose to live
Before you fell to the Fates' perversity,
Before their undeserving Champion dragged you 'round the city.
"Honor the Gods", you said, cruel though they may be.
"Defend your Country", you said, though it be doomed.
"Love your Women", you said, as only they can give
Meaning to the madness from across the sea.
Your father forced to beg for your battered corpse; so many dead,
Their faces still now, 'neath the swaying plumes
Of shining helmets, others waiting in their stead.

"Honor the Gods Defend your Country Love your women."

- Oh you grey heads who start your wars for Pride,
Go ask Andromache's ghost
What it meant to her.

Our Country’s Soul Is Being “Torn Apart”

The very soul of America is being “torn apart.”
It’s a problem that’s striking at our very heart.

Sometimes, even in the darkest times, love will find you. In the fantastic book by Rick Riordan, House of Hades, the two main characters, Percy and Annabeth, fall into the depths of Tartarus together. Throughout the book, we see them struggle through the murky abyss to the Doors of Death, while their friends make their way towards them in Greece. Both sides must be closed in order to stop Gaea. The story does end with Percy and Annabeth completing their journey safely. During the course of the book, I see two themes that shine through- love can overpower fear, and sometimes, you must face your fears in order to save your friends.…

    1. Updike arranges details artfully in order to set the story in a perfectly ordinary supermarket. His description of the appearance of the supermarket itself offers a vivid image. Updike talks about a girl in a bathing suit “in the cool of the A & P, under the fluorescent lights, against all those stacked packages, with her feet padding along naked over our checkerboard green-and-cream rubber-tile floor” (14). This offers the perfect description of a modern supermarket. The way in which Updike describes the three girls walking down the aisles adds to the supermarket image. Updike explains, “The fat one with the tan sort of fumbled with the cookies, but on second thought she put the packages back. The sheep pushing their carts down the aisle” (14). The author adds to the illustration with a description of this consumer, whose approach and actions reflect those of any supermarket customer.…

The deaf community believes a deaf person's ability to live a full and meaningful life is not compromised by his or her deafness, so the suggestion that cochlear implants provide advantages over a deaf lifestyle is shortsighted and insensitive. Many deaf people deal very well with their deafness, learning sign language and lip reading and adapting their work and home environments to accommodate their loss of hearing. Another controversy surrounding cochlear implants and the deaf community is the safety and effectiveness of the procedure. Cochlear implants may be viewed as disrespectful and insulting, since the medical community views deafness as a handicap which must be treated or corrected. Most people do not want to have cochlear implants they are afraid of hearing the world around them. Most of the time these controversial issues build up when the person is an adult and has spent most of their time being deaf and now have all those concerns about the cochlear implants.…

That is so gay. You are a faggot. Take a second and think about how many times you encounter these phrases on a daily basis. Derogatory terms such as these are some among many other hateful anti-homosexual sayings that are used regularly by adolescents across the country. Why? How have these revolting expressions become part of all of our daily vocabularies? How have the terms ‘gay’ and ‘faggot’ become synonymous with ‘lame’ or ‘not cool’? With the youth of our nation bred into constant subconscious hateful thought, there cannot be a positive future for the morale of our society. Macklemore’s new song and music video, Same Love, aims to point the youth of our society in a new forward thinking direction. Macklemore, one of the fastest rising artists in the hip-hop industry, and currently the number one artist on iTunes without a major record deal, recognizes the issues within our society and uses his influence to attempt to make a difference. Hip-hop music is a huge part the youth of our society, and is very influential on the way we all act, speak, and think. Rappers use the term ‘fag’ to insult another person whether he or she is gay or not, and have in many cases caused their listeners to do the same. Through Same Love Macklemore points out the flaws in this way of life and preaches of moving forward. Because of Macklemore’s own influence in our culture, the youth of society, and rhetorical strategies he has used, I believe he has done an incredible job advocating his message. Through Same Love, Macklemore discusses society’s false predispositions on homosexuality, the use of derogatory terms in hip-hop, and how we as a society need to stop avoiding the sexual equality movement and move forward.…

Some people believe that marriage is a sacred institution, that should only be between a man and a woman, and that it's immoral for marriage to exist between same sex couples, as if their love is inferior. But who are they to stop ones inalienable rights to the Pursuit of happiness? I believe marriage should be legal for any two individuals that truly love each other, with the intentions of wanting to unite their lives together. This essay is intended to explain my reasons for believing so.…

In today’s mainstream, movies often depict situations that reach beyond the boundaries of reality. Movies such as Transformers and Avatar solely provide entertainment. They do not provide a relationship that could occur in everyday life, because they feature creatures beyond known reality. However, movies on the other end of the spectrum, such as P.S. I Love You and A Walk To Remember, show instances that can relate to people. One of the best romantic comedies, Return to Me, a movie about life, family friends, and love portrays instances that people can relate to, making the movie outstanding.…
