IF YOU WERE THE BOSS 1.You are the manager of a bank, and one of your employees comes in on a Monday morning with a pierced tongue and purple hair. What should you do? I would first call the employee into my office. The sooner I remove the employee from public view the better. Allowing an employee to badly represent the company that way would be bad for business. Our company could lose some of our major accounts. As manager of a bank it would be my duty to prevent situations like this from happening again. After the employee enters my office I would get a copy of our company’s employee handbook. I would turn to the page with the dress code on it and lay it in front of the employee. I would then ask the employee to read it to me. Then I would ask the employee do you understand what you just read. I would then remind the employee of the document that he or she signed their first day of employment which clearly states that they read and fully understand company policy. After explaining why we need to follow company policy, I will go into detail about how bad this could be for business. Then I will explain why we must do our best to portray a professional image. Then depending on if the employee has broken company policy in the past could mean probation or even termination. If theres been no past problems I would send the employee home. I would tell him or her, “now we have to struggle to get your work done for the day since we will be without a scheduled employee”. As manager I will have to fill the position myself, but I will always have a couple of part time bank tellers that I could call in on such short notice. And finally as the employee is leaving I would instruct him or her to be back tomorrow at the regular time dressed in a professional image meeting dress code or don’t come back at all.

If the worker is undocumented or not, while in the work environment by law all workers are to be treated equally and fairly. The globalization of the work place, and the diversity it brings has all employees thinking of themselves as more than just an American, as such I cannot and should not take any action or allow any which maybe discriminatory or prejudicial in nature. I would uphold all the laws and policies of the company and until told otherwise, I would treat all employees on the presumption that I or the company did not “knowingly” higher an undocumented…

Women today are constantly bombarded by media in one form or another. It could take the form of a fashion magazine, a favourite blog, a TV commercial, or a myriad of other sources. When in any public commercial setting such as a grocery store, a clothing store, or a hair salon, one is bound to see a plethora of magazines and various advertisements; most of them adorned by thin, happy models. Women see fashion models as the pinnacle of health and beauty, often feeling inadequate in comparison. They may strive to become like these women by radically changing their eating habits without fully understanding the potential risks and consequences. The inability to measure up to this idealistic body standard has also been linked to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. The evolution, expansion, and ubiquity of technology has played a role in perpetuating an idealistic body image and bringing forth new methods to pursue it. An unrealistic body image has become an object of obsession for many women and this obsession is aiding in the development of physical and psychological disease among women.…

Attire is a type of nonverbal communication. What a person wears at work says a lot about them. Some examples of inappropriate work-place attire is excessive jewelry, tight and short clothing and sometimes even clothing or jewelry that show off beliefs and religion. Treat every person the way that you want them to treat you. Observe each individual that you encounter and analyse what needs they may have and try to meet those needs. For example, physically disabled people need more space to move around the office area, to treat this person correctly and with respect I would hold doors open and keep walk ways clear. Furthermore, for a person with strong religious beliefs I would never discriminate against them because of their beliefs or use any offensive language - this is applicable to every person in the office as well as visitors.…
