SAP is business management integrated software that allows an organization or a firm to use multiple applications at a common platform to enable easy operation of its business. SAP as an application combines all the important functions of an operation, including development, manufacturing, sales and marketing. The basic USP of all SAP applications is a shared database that supports multiple functions used by different business units, department or operators. For example, operator in store department of a manufacturing firm can access the same data as it is accessed by the operator in procurement or inventory control. SAP software also offers a good degree of synchronized reporting and automation. With a SAP system in place, people do not need to maintain separate database or spread sheet which then have to be manually merged to generate reports. SAP solutions allow employees to extract all the information from the common platform, thus providing accurate and current data to the users. As SAP has been utilized for many business solutions, software applications have been developed to help business managers implement SAP or other kind of ERP in other business activities and may also incorporate modules such business intelligence and present them as a single unified package. SAP software consists of many enterprise software modules that an organisation may customize,…

Abstract— Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a shift of paradigm in software development. It can be seen as an evolution of Component Based Software Development (CBSD), with web services used instead of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) software. For the last few years the number of services on the web has increased exponentially. Among available services locating the best service that fulfills the user requirement is a challenging task for researchers. There is still no standard Requirement Engineering (RE) process defined for Service Oriented Software Development (SOSD). The traditional processes and those used for COTS selection cannot be used due to the architectural differences of SOSD with other domains. In this paper we have extracted a list of issues and challenges from literature under considerations by research community for RE process in SOSD. The issues of RE in CBSD are compared with those of SOSD, as CBSD is considered close in nature to SOSD. The results shows that there is a need of standard RE process for SOSD with proper guidance on how to perform different steps with details. Keywords - requirement engineering; service oriented software development; component based software development; commercial off-the-shelf softwares (COTS).…
