Teaching individuals and family members how to cope with incurable illnesses is one of the main purposes of the hospice service. Another function is to provide care to many age gorups-primarily the elderly generation-either in their homes or in a hospital setting. Questions and answers concerning the transitrion process is available as well as Christian counseling. Services provided include medical care; any therapy that may be needed/necessary; daily task assistance (includes bathing, feeding, grooming, etc); in-home care (24-hr care is available for emergency situations and for the needs and/or concerns of the family); facility (hospital and/or nursing home) care-vitals are monitored and the condition of the patient is reported to the family member (if he/she is not available in person); family support is available: bereavement and grief counseling is offered). Why recommend Hospice? The care given is through principles of comfort, dignity, and choice: all of which are important to the patient as well as the family. Professional attention is provided as well as medical, emotional, and spiritual support. Most, if not all, of the individuals affiliated with Life Touch Hospice, have been through the process, therefore, they are able to give help in ways that others cannot. Services, in detail, are explained below:

What services does hospice provide?
Hospice includes the services of an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals: Physicians (the patient’s own physician and the hospice physicians, who are specialist in controlling pain and other symptoms of serious illness) prescribe medications and other methods of pain and symptom control. Nurses are experts at maintaining patient comfort. They assess the patient frequently and help family members provide the necessary support. Certified nurse assistants and home health aides provide personal care and help the patient and family with activities of daily living. They also provide companionship and valuable emotional support. Social workers coordinate community resources and help the patient and family with non-medical concerns. They can help family members mend damaged relationships, plan for the future and ease other emotional difficulties. Chaplains and spiritual counselors help patients and families cope with spiritual questions and concerns at the end of life, either directly or by coordinating services with the patient’s and family’s spiritual advisors. Bereavement coordinators help patients and families deal with grief. Grief support services continue for at least one year after the death of a hospice patient. Volunteers provide companionship and emotional support and offer help in myriad ways. Hospice also provides medications, medical equipment and supplies necessary to promote comfort at home or in other hospice settings. Hospice staff are available by phone at all times, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. (How is Hospice different from other medical care, n.d.) Substance Abuse Treatment
