ISS Classroom Observation
Michicco entered the ISS classroom in a very disruptive manner. I immediately went over the rules with the student. I asked the student to paraphrase the rules to check for understanding. She signed the rule sheet and had a difficult time following the expectations for the ISS classroom. She had 48 distractions of outburst to seek attention from the students in the classroom. This took place between 9:00- 11:32AM. I use many interventions and role play to help her understand her behavior was deemed unacceptable.
11:47 AM- The student told me the chair was making her butt itch. She laughed to get attention from the other students. I informed her about her behavior could be taken offensive to others. She got up and began scratching her behind

Juliana was evaluated and was sent home. Due to this incident , the School placed a para-profession in the classroom with Juliana as the school is concerned for her safety.…

Tom’s behavior often disrupts class. Yesterday he threw a dictionary across the room, knocked over his desk, kicked it, and began yelling obscenities at the teacher and the other students in the class (LD resource room). The teacher had to call for help from his ED resource room teacher to calm him down and safely remove him from the classroom.…

The case I would like to address in this assignment is based on one of my 2009/2010 NC classes in the afternoon. Despite the initial group discussion on expected behaviour, this group was demonstrating a whole host of disruptive behaviours. This group also included a special needs student, who was being supported by a Learning Support Assistant, whom I assumed had been briefed on the needs. The observed disruptive behaviour included the following:…

Respondent public high school student (hereafter respondent) delivered a speech nominating a fellow student for a student elective office at a voluntary assembly that was held during school hours as part of a school-sponsored educational program in self-government, and that was attended by approximately 600 students, many of whom were 14-year-olds. During the entire speech, respondent referred to his candidate in terms of an elaborate, graphic, and explicit sexual metaphor. Some of the students at the assembly hooted and yelled during the speech, some mimicked the sexual activities alluded to in the speech, and others appeared to be bewildered and embarrassed. Prior to delivering the speech, respondent discussed it with several teachers, two of whom advised him that it was inappropriate and should not be given. The morning after the assembly, the Assistant Principal called respondent into her office and notified him that the school considered his speech to have been a violation of the school's "disruptive-conduct rule," which prohibited conduct that substantially interfered with the educational process, including the use of obscene, profane language or gestures.…

I was confronted with an ethical conflict with a student. Bob (name has been changed) is a second grade boy with Emotional Disturbance. One morning during writing, Bob got upset because he did not want to write. I reminded him that he is in school to work hard. That it was not okay for him to refuse to work. I told him writing is really important and he is going to do it more in 3rd grade. I asked him to clip down for his behavior (behavior system) because he was not working hard, which breaks the school wide rule of making good choices. He was so upset that he pulled the bucket from my hand and hit me. I informed him that I understood that he was really upset and told him that that is definitely not the way to resolve a conflict. I reminded him that adults do not go around hitting one another because there are grave consequences for that type of action. I resolved the situation by reminding him to be mindful of his emotions and reminded him to breathe deeply to calm his heart rate. I gave him a break and then reminded him that when he is feeling really upset he needs to use his words so we can meet his needs. I gave him a referral. Even though I understand that the child has a difficult time dealing with emotions, I have provided strategies that can help him calm himself. He did not use them. I believe student safety comes first. I had a difficult time writing this referral because I know that sometimes he truly cannot control himself. But, I gave him a referral because…

When it comes to special education, discipline is a major concern in this area because many students are incessantly being expelled for their behavior issues that are caused by their disabilities. With the previous law students were excluded from school and received long suspension time because of their behavioral problems but when the new law was passed in 2004 students that are disable, is entitle to a free appropriate education under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and can no longer be expel from school if their behavior is due to their disability. With the new law, students can no longer be suspended for more than 10 days during a school term for behavioral issues and 45 days for weapon and illegal drugs. A Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) should be included within the special need students Individualized Education Plan (IEP) at the beginning of each school year so that the general education teachers is aware of the students behavioral problems and is able to handle them before the student get out of hand and the other students learning is disruptive. If students know what is expected of them in the beginning, I believe that they will try to keep their behavior under control especially when they are in a more controlled and structure classroom.…

I remember what had happened perfectly. I was sitting in the seat behind a boy who was known to have a few special needs but nothing serious enough for him to be separated by class. Other students picked on him because of how tiny he was, how he talked, and sometimes they even targeted his special need specifically. I usually minded my own business but one day, someone had just taken…
