I Want To Pursue My Career As A Nursing Assistant
My formative years were spent in the Philippines. I remember when I was going to graduate from high school, my teacher asked me “What do you want to be in five years from now?” In my senior yearbook, I told them that I wanted to become a nurse. That dream would have to be placed on hold for now because my parents could not afford to send me to nursing school. Four years after high school, I had the chance to come to the United States. Upon taking his health assessment and history, I realized that there is a vast need for health education and health promotion that needs to be done in the community. This realization and the daily encounter of so many lives has opened my eyes as to why I have chosen to advance my career in nursing as a Family Adult Nurse Practitioner. While researching the different programs in and around the area, I felt that Gonzaga University would be able to best equip me to become an excellent Family Nurse Practitioner. Aside from Gonzaga University’s excellent academic reputation, I also believe in the school’s mission and core values that are infused in the Jesuit tradition of upholding world change in the community. I would like to contribute and be a part of that culture of change. I look forward to the challenges ahead and hope I will be given a chance to contribute to your

I have always maintained that one of the most difficult things I have ever done in my life was obtain my Associate’s Degree in Nursing. It was a vigorous and competitive program in which I found myself sometimes laughing and crying at the same time. I have always been pretty realistic about life, not too much of a dreamer, no delusions of grandeur, and never an anticipator of special treatment. My parents were old school, always taught us kids that we should expect to receive back only what we put into something; hard work always pays off. When I began my academic journey, late into my thirties, I was nervous about how I would measure up to the younger students, I mean, they were pretty used to going to school so they were already sort of…
