I want to maintain the GPA that I have worked hard for and end my undergraduate career on a good note. Balancing my academics with my athletic schedule has not been easy, so I am proud that I was able to maintain a sufficient GPA throughout my undergrad. I am excited to become a RDN because it will increase my scope of practice and allow me to contribute to the health and wellness of others. World travel has always been something I’ve been drawn to. I was fortunate to travel to South Africa on a church mission trip where I learned about the people, food, and culture of the country. Being cultural competent is beneficial when working with and understanding individuals with different backgrounds and heritages, not only in daily life but also in the professional setting. I wish to further my knowledge and culture competence through travel and work. My long-term goals are to be happy in my career, continue my education through a PHD or Masters program, and add to my credentials. I see the value in education and lifelong learning as I strive to better myself daily. Because my good grades allowed, I became a tutor in hopes of improving my teaching skills. Another thing I struggle with is public speaking; it is not something that I am comfortable doing. My undergraduate courses have helped me to become more comfortable with public speaking. The more I do it, the more comfortable I will become. I am a very driven person and I strive to better myself everyday. If I am faced with a task that I am not fully comfortable with I will network with others who posses the correct knowledge and research the topic myself to become more comfortable. I abide by the evidence based practice philosophy set forth by the academy. My strong will and perseverance has led me to success in academics and athletics. Swimming at the Division 1 level was a source of extra physical and mental stress on an already stressful road to pursuing an undergraduate degree. The countless early mornings, months of training, and missed classes for competitions all taught me how to manage my time wisely. I am extremely proud that I had the strength and determination to finish my four years of NCAA eligibility as a swimmer, a feat that few have accomplished. I am a highly analytical person, as I like to analyze many different angles to an issue before I make a decision. I am thorough in my decision making process so I do not miss important information.
