As I was growing up, playing soccer has always been a “guys” only sports in my mother’s eye. She nor my family ever understood the passion I had towards such an amazing sport. While other girl’s parents, specially mothers, stood on the sideline with motivational posters to cheer on their girl’s success, my mother stayed home telling me that I wasn’t a man and that I was never going to good enough for soccer. As she stayed home putting up with the rest of my siblings and with a headache, I went alone to my games to face everything against me by myself.
