I Carry Your Heart With Me Figurative Language
Have someone ever made you feel like you had a purpose in life? Everyone wants to feel like they are here for a purpose and sometimes through love. In the poem, “I Carry Your Heart with Me” by E.E. Cummings, the poet writes a love poem and describes the value he has for her. In the poem, the speaker utilized figurative language to express the amount of love he had for his muse. In the beginning of the poem, the speaker uses hyperbole to lets the readers know that everything he does is because of her. In the first stanza he states, “ i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)”, he is exaggerating that her heart is always with him inside of his heart. No one can literally take someone’s heart with them because they wouldn’t be able
