I can relate with your communication assessment. I don’t communicate the same with everyone. This is due to the level of respect, education, familiarity or authority that person holds. I’ve learned throughout the years that not every conversation needs a reply. Also, some are intimidated by your education and feel belittled during a conversation. I tend to make small talk and keep it simple.…

A Model Communicator (MC) appeared in an unlikely place - the two hour state mandated parent orientation class for my son’s Driver Education class. The MC took the stage and worked the room like a stand up comedian. Her high energy and humor immediately engaged/eased the audience, a group of parents weary from Super Bowl celebrations and the wintery mix rush hour commute on top of our apprehension to enter the scary zone of teenage driving.…
Ed is faced with a huge challenge right from the start. The writer, Markus Zusak, gives the reader the impression that Ed is capable of taking on a challenge. For example; the bank robbery: Ed jumps to the challenge, saving thousands of dollars, and making him look like a hero when he takes the gun, and defeats the robber. However, Ed disregards his ability to be a leader, just as he ignores that he is the hero in this bank robbery; he doesn’t believe that he deserves the recognition that he gets.…
In the Glen Campbell documentary “I’ll Be Me”, we see country musician Glen Campbell through a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease, and his final album and tour. We learn about his life and how he has always been into music and has been on the road most of his adult life performing his music. There is a scene where a doctor performs a memory test while his wife is there with him. The doctor asks him to remember a few words and then asks him to repeat them. Campbell says he cannot recall them because he no longer has a use for them. I think was a sign as there were several times that he said that he no longer had a use for something and that is why he could not recall it- he was trying to play it off like he no longer needed the information but…
I can remember saying some harsh things about someone and then the person I said them to went back and said something totally different. Words can so often be turned around to hurt someone. Its best to just bite your tongue and keep your mouth shut. Destructive words are those who hurt others. Constructive words are words of wisdom, inspiration, and compliments. I have learned its better to find the positive things in people than the negative. Even if you can only find one positive thing to say that’s better than having destructive words.…

I Am the Messenger was originally published in Australia, where it received the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book Award in 2003. When the novel was subsequently published in the United States in 2005, it was listed as a Michael L. Printz Honor Book. Markus Zusak received several starred reviews for I Am the Messenger. Positive reviews focus mainly on Zusak’s successful development of a sympathetic character as he struggles to become a stronger person. School Library Journal calls the story a “tender and expansive novel,” and Teenreads.com says it “breaks your heart.” As a character, Ed is both powerful and vulnerable, and many readers would certainly see aspects of themselves in him. Several critics comment positively on Zusak’s use…
Communication skills have to be practice over time in order for one to get better at it. Developing good communication skills is very important to me because of the goals and dreams that I have for my personal and professional life. Am I that eloquent orator that I have been dreaming of or that powerful writer I am longing to become? I must say that I have improved tremendously but still think that I have a long way to go. I have received constructive criticisms about my communication skills during my communication class and other important presentations. Based on these critics I am aware of my weaknesses and strengths for both oral and written communication. I believe that the first in becoming an effective communicator is by acknowledging your areas of strength and weaknesses, and using various tools and strategies that would enhance your communication skills.…

Composing, sending, and receiving productive, developed messages require a high level of awareness by the sender and receiver. Senders should be well-versed in the varying tones he or she may portray in reference to the point attempting to be made and receivers should remain open to feedback and maintain the ability to delineate between negative and positive messages. "No communication skill is more critical to the manager than the ability to frame an issue effectively. How someone frames an issue influences how others see it and focuses their attention on particular aspects of it. Framing is the essence of targeting a communication to a specific audience" (Raffoni, 2009, p. 3).…
The message I have chosen for the assignment, and am my considering for the final project, is a video from The Foundation for a Better Life. The video, titled “Purse,” features the story of a young, gothic teenager sitting at a bus stop in as urban city who runs to return a middle-aged woman’s purse to her after she forgets the bag at the bus stop (“See the Pass,” n.d.). The message is linked below and is also officially cited in the references at the end of the document:…
