One of my favorite movies is Dances With Wolves. Dances With Wolves is a 1990 American epic western film directed and produced by Kevin Costner. Kevin Costner plays the star character, Lieutenant, John J. Dunbar. He is wounded in the American Civil War. He chose to try to commit suicide over having his foot amputated by taking a horse and riding it up to and along the confederate soldiers’ front lines. They failed to shoot him. The Union Army attacks the line while the confederate soldiers are distracted and the Union Army wins the battle. Dunbar survives and is allowed to recover properly, receives a citation for bravery, and is awarded Cisco, the horse who carried him, as well as his choice of posting. Throughout the novella I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, Robert Neville, the last human who is immune to this disease, is an anti-hero. For instance, towards the end of the story, during his state of confusion after he woke up, he felt pain that he had not ever felt before and thought that it must mean it was the end and said to himself ‘’I am going to die’’ (p.164). This statement shows that he accepts that his life will end here and he will not try to fight it in any way in order to continue surviving. In addition to this, after he realizes where he is and what happened, Ruth came to check on him and asks him why he did not leave beforehand like she told him to in the letter she left him. Robert explained to her ‘’I…couldn’t […] I almost…

The movie "I am Legend" had a non-linear narrative structure. A non-linear film "does not move from one event to the next in chronological order but moves from the present to the furture to the past, and so on, with no regard for chronological order" (Goodykoontz, B., & Jacobs, C. P. 2011). In this movie it starts with Neville remembering his past daily life as a military scientists. He was trying to find the cure for a virus that was spreading across the world.
