1. Define shock as it relates to being a life threatening emergency
Shock is a failure of the circulatory system. This causes an insufficient amount blood to be supplied throughout the body.
2. Explain the perfusion triangle as it relates to three components of circulation
The perfusion triangle consists of the heart (pump), blood vessels (pipe), and blood (fluid). When everything in the perfusion triangle is working properly, adequate blood and oxygen are provided to all cells in the body. When there is pump failure, pipe failure, or fluid loss, circulation failure occurs and there is not enough oxygenated blood to be supplied through the body.

    Blood is the liquid that flows through various vessels in our body. The teacher demonstrates a drawing of how when the doctor takes plasma from our body how it is mixed into a small tube. The materials that are used are red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. In the tube the combination of the two liquids is called blood. The liquid (plasma) is on the top and the materials are on the bottom. We discussed why the heart is important and what it does. The heart is important because it pumps the blood through our body and how the vessels travel to and from the heart. The heart has two parts the right and left atrium, they send oxygen blood to lung and is a power circulation the body. We talked about the 2 types of Circuits (pulmonary and systemic). The pulmonary circuit pumps blood to the lungs and back, where the red blood cells can get oxygen while the systemic circuits blood pump from the heart to the body tissues and back. Another part we learned about being the vessels and three parts. According to google online dictionary the blood vessels are the part of the circulatory system that transports blood throughout the human body. We discussed the three parts the vessels consist of, arteries, veins, and capillaries.     The myocardium, commonly referred to as the heart, acts as a pump for transporting blood around the body via a collective system, known as the cardiovascular system. This system has various components; blood vessels; mainly arteries, veins and capillaries. The cardiovascular system has four main functions within the body. Firstly to transport dissolved oxygen, hormones, nutrients, salts, enzymes and urea to cells located around various places within the body, whilst at the same time eliminating any waste products such as carbon dioxide and water. Secondly, to protect the body from infection and blood loss. Thirdly, to distribute heat around the body to enable a healthy temperature of 37oc and finally to aid the body to maintain fluid balance. This ‘human pump’ can be regarded as two pumps. The fist sized organ contains two muscular chambers; the upper chamber; the atrium and the lower; the ventricle. The right side of the heart pumps deoxygenated blood from the veins to the lungs for oxygenation, whilst the left side pumps oxygenated blood from the lungs to the body. It is important to note that the two sides are separated by a septum. The blood flows through the heart twice within one cycle, this is known as ‘double circulation’.…
