Hypnos

DId you ever wonder about sleep? How you fall asleep? How long you will sleep? Well, Hypnos is the answer! He is the god of sleep. He puts people to sleep and helps them forget all their problems that they had when they were awake. It is said that Hypnos lived in a cave palace in the realm of Hades, the Underworld of Greek mythology.

There are many stories about Hypnos. One is that the goddess of the Moon Selene fell in love with a shepherd named Endymion. She wanted him to live forever so she could look at himi whenever she wanted. When Zeus refused, he told Hypnos to make Endymion fall asleep forever with his eyes open. Another myth is when Hera persuades Hypnos to put her husband, Zeus, to sleep so that she can hurt his son Heracles who is a demi-god. But Zeus didn’t fall deeply asleep and wanted to hurt Hypnos. Hypnos hid in his mother’s cave in the Underworld. Nyx's Power was strong enough to protect Hypnos. A third one is about the Trojan War. Hera wanted to help the …show more content…
His father was Erebus the god of deity of Darkness. They had lots of children. His brothers was Geras , Charon, and Aether. His sisters were Eris, Nemesis, and Hemere. Hypnos had a twin brother Thanatos the god of peaceful death. Hypnos got his wife by helping out Hera. He got the youngest of the Graces Pasithea. They had four children called the Oneiroi. The oldest one was Morpheus the wing god of dreams who can take any form of a human in a dream. The next oldest was Phobetor was the god of personification of nightmares he created scary dreams and he could take form of huge scary animals. Phantasus the second youngest was the god of illusional dreams he made dreams that is illusional and he had no animus form. The Youngest of the Oneiroi was Ikelos he made the more realistic dreams and the dreams that actually might happen. This family including Hypno’s twin brother had the most desired abilities :sleep, dreams, fear. And
