PRIGMATISM IS MIDDLE PHILOSOPHY BETWEEN NATURALISM AND IDEALISM, EXPLAIN THIS STATEMENT
Meaning and Definition of Pragmatism:-
The word ‘pragmatism’ is derived from the Greek word ‘Pragmatism’ which means ‘Practice’. Professor Arnand Reid gives his opinion about Pragmatism as “activity, engagement, commitment and encounter.” These are regarded as the ‘central theme’ of this school of education. Pragmatism is that school of philosophy which does not believe in the idea of pragmatism remained neglected for many years but now this idea or the American school of thought has come dot stay. The word is now beige frequently used and many of us have adopted this philosophy. The chief profounder of this philosophy are William James and Johbn Dewey, They belonged to United States of America In the words of William James, “Pragmatism is a temper of mind, an attitude, it is also a theory of the nature of ideas and truth and finally, it is a theory about reality.” In the words of Ross “Pragmatism is essentially a humanistic philosophy, maintaining that man creates his own values in course of activity, that reality is still in making and awaits part of its complexion for the future that to an unascertainable entrant our truth are manmade products.” According to James Prett, “Pragmatism offers us a theory of meaning, a theory of truth, a theory of knowledge and a theory of reality.” In the words of Rosen, “Pragmatism offers us a theory of meaning, a theory of truth, of knowledge and a theory of reality.”
According to Prott.J.B., “Pragmatism stat yes that truth can be known only through its practical consequence and is thus an individual or social matter rather than an absolute.” In the words of Stella Henderson, “Pragmatism says that if a works in experience that6 makes it true. Truth changes according to the circumstances.” Rusk defines pragmatism “Pragmatism is merely a stage in the development of new idealism and idealism that will do full justice to reality, reconcile the practical and spiritual values and not the negation of it.” The Principles of Pragmatism

FORMS OF PRAGMATISM There are three forms of Pragmatism given as under-
1. Humanistic Pragmatism –
According to this ideology, only these things or principles are true which satisfy the needs. Requirements, aspiration and objectives of human beings and cater to the welfare of making, In other words, that which satisfies the human nature is only true and real. Humanistic Pragmatists believe “Whatever fulfils my purpose, satisfies my desire, develops my life is true.”
2. Experimental Pragmatism-
According to this ideology that thing or principles is true which can be verified as true by experiment. Hence, according to experimentally Pragmatists, “Whatever can be experimentally verified is true, or what works is true.”
3. Biological Pragmatism-
According to Biological Pragmatism, That power or capacity of human being is valuable and important which enables him to adjust with the enviable and important which change his environment according to his needs and requirements. The chief protagonist of this...
