You’re driving home from a movie with your best friends and you’re doing about 60 on a country road you’ve known all your life. All of a sudden, out of your peripheral view, you see a couple of deer heading straight for your cars path. You hit the brake to try to avoid them and narrowly miss. You think to yourself how lucky you are that you didn’t hit one. What you didn’t know is the couple of deer you saw used to be a pack of 4 deer. A week earlier, two different hunters each took a deer from that herd. If it wasn’t for the hunters, you probably would’ve hit at least one deer. Deer hunting isn’t as bad as it is portrayed to be! Hunting controls the deer population and along with predator population and the number of accidents involving deer decrease because of good ethical hunting.…

It brings together old and young generations with a common goal. Being in the woods with your dad or your grandfather or your friends, sitting in silence until one of you sees your quarry is an experience like no other. It is difficult for a non-hunter to grasp this experience. It comes from a lifetime of exposure to hunting and its many trails and tribulations. With these adversities comes reward, this reward consists not only of materialistic value but it comes with wholehearted emotional satisfaction. Having your dad share a beer with you after a long day of hunting, having your grandfather smear the blood of your first kill on your face, and going out hunting with your friends to put to use the knowledge your dad and grandfather taught you as a young boy is immaculate. Within all hunters burns a flame of passion for the outdoors, which is fueled by the excitement of the hunt and no bureaucrat, no lobbyist, and no organization can ever extinguish this flame, it will burn forever within the hearts and souls of those who respect and are awed by the animals they hunt. PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…
