It is unethical to poach animals because it leads to extinction, illegal trade , and the s pread of disease; despite these issues, many believe that the money made from poaching is more important than the negative consequences. One negative consequence of poaching is that many times poachers kill animals until they become greatly endangered or extinct. This causes some problems in the ecosystems where these animals live. If one animal goes extinct, this means less food for the animal that used to eat it as prey. One animal that went extinct is the Western Black Rhinoceros and “In 2011 the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUNC) declared the Western Black Rhinoceros extinct.” This is one example of how poachers can kill one…

When we think of a worldwide catastrophe, we usually think of earthquakes, ice age, and nuclear war. But one that should be recognized with much more severity is poaching. As international editor Richard Swift observed; “We are pushing a hundred species a day, four species an hour, into evolutionary oblivion”. Hunting and capturing animals has been practiced even before recorded history. Where this can be understandable to most in a survival perspective, there are people in this world who abuse this action and slaughter animals for other disrespectful reasons or no reason at all. This is identified as poaching and it should indisputably come to an end.…

Government corruption, weak laws, and next to no punishment for poaching allows for these crimes to continue around the world. For Crime groups the risk is low and rewards are high, especially when the poachers are poor locals, which are typically the persons jailed for the offenses. The altering of livelihoods of the locals who can depend on the plants and animals poached for their own survival where they live. The downfall to poaching is that it could cause hunting to be banned and this will lower the rate of outdoorsmen. This means that all the men and women that usually buy their hunting license would not buy their hunting license anymore. The result of the rate of people buying hunting license dropping would be that the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife would be losing money. If the Wildlife department loses money this could result in several animal parks and hunting places being shut down. The banning of hunting could be both good and bad for the people. In (Kentucky white Tailed Deer Report) they state that the banning of hunting could be good for the people because this would make the serious hunters want to help catch people that are poaching and report them to the fish and wildlife department.…

Hunting is a common activity all around the world, and if performed properly, can have many benefits to us and the rest of the planet. The art of hunting has been around since the beginning of time. Living off of the land used to be a necessity across the world, until the mass production of food came along. In America, people do not usually need to hunt to survive. However, the population of animal species needs to be controlled. Too many of one type of animal can cause a drastic change to any ecosystem. Food supplies decline quickly, leaving many animals without food. Hunting can help keep the population of a group of animals at a good number, making the lives of the other species easier. Hunters and fishermen are some of the most prominent demographic groups, and have an annual economic contribution of $70 billion (Eaton). Taxes from this also benefit the habitat by funding wildlife control (Gibbons). Hunting contains many positive effects on the world and the things living in it. Some people have negative views on this activity, but the amount of positive affects it has on society overbears the negative ones.…
