Knowledge or Belief
When it comes to knowing or believing how do we decide what way to follow? There are two ways to look at it empirical or reasoning. Empirical being evidence based knowledge of a certain experience we have had in the past. Reasoning being based on logic, or innate (born with) knowledge. Is it possible that both could be right and combined with each other? When we talk about our significant others do we know for fact that they love us, or do we believe that they love us? Melissa is Troy’s wife and he tends to think that she loves him whole heartedly. This being based on empirical evidence on the things she does for him.
The belief that Melissa loves Troy is based on evidence that she continues to show him by her actions on a daily basis. She cooks for him, cleans for him, she greets him with hugs and kisses when he gets home from work. She loves and takes care of the children for him well he is gone for work. Melissa tells him that she loves him daily. This is all evidential prove that she loves him, but their faith also gives them evidential prove based on the bible. The bible states the woman should submit to the man take care of him, and that the man is the leader of the house financially and spiritually. This further proves that Melissa loves Troy because of the way she takes care of the house when he is gone. Now let’s look at it from a reasoning stand point, logic would tell you that she loves him also because why else would she continue to do the things she does if she did not in fact love him.
Based on the evidence set forth it is of Troy’s opinion that Melissa in fact does love him and he knows this based on the evidence provided. Knowledge is based on evidence being able to prove such so by Melissa cleaning, cooking, greeting him with a smile, and caring for the children are all signs of evidence that she loves

The story opens in the month of January with the oft-quoted line: “None of them knew the color of the sky” (Crane 57). “Them” means four individuals who are aboard a dinghy, having been shipwrecked: the captain with an injured arm, the correspondent, the cook, and Billie, the oiler. Except for Billie, the rest of the characters remain unnamed. The oiler and the correspondent row the dinghy, while the captain provides directions and the cook bails water out of the boat.…

After examining these very in-depth analysis essays, I attempted to find sections of the analysis that fell off topic and where sections didn’t incorporate themselves to the thesis. Also I looked at which of the authors concluded the essays appropriately and who connected all the information into the concluding paragraph. Both of these authors did incorporate details and colors of the artist’s work, but other factors had to be judged when thoroughly examining these essays. After noticing slight variations throughout “Essay G: Beach Scene in the Tropics” it was apparent that one of the authors was more consistent than the other. I came to the conclusion that “Pablo Cano: Exemplifying Dadaism through Matilda Hippo” had a stronger and more well rounded essay.…

The mythical narratives of the ancient Greeks and the Romans constitute a continuous tradition that extends from before the reach of history to the present day. Myths survive in literary texts and visual art because their narratives have continued to prove compelling and fascinating in different languages, historical eras, and social contexts (the myths of Odysseus, Heracles, and Oedipus are just a few examples). Literature and art of all kinds have been inspired to retell and represent their stories, while the search for the meaning of mythic stories has informed and profoundly influenced a great range of intellectual disciplines including literary criticism, anthropology, and psychoanalysis. In these ways, myths have and continue to exercise a fundamental influence on western culture and, in consequence, even today they maintain a certain cosy familiarity. On the other hand, the historical contexts in which the Greeks and Romans told and retold these mythical narratives are to us in the twenty-first century culturally alien and unfamiliar.…

At its peak, the Roman Empire was the most powerful force in the world. However, by the 3rd century A.D., the Romans were on fast decline. This fast decline was caused by three drastic changes in their society. The three changes consisted of new leaders controlling the area, Rome becoming spilt up into two sections, and Christianity gaining all of religious control. . Along with these, other achievements were made. The spread of Roman law increased, as so did the trade on the Silk Road. Romans also built dams and drainage systems, as well as developing the arch and dome. The decline is what made Rome so famous, however. If it weren't for this rapid downfall of their society, Rome would not be remembered as the great nation as it is today.…

The Late Middle Ages were a time during the 14th century in which three catastrophic events happened. The three events included the Black Death, Great Schism, and Hundred Years War. These three events changed the arts and culture of Europe drastically. Even though the 14th century was a great time for Europe, this time period was also quickly given another name. It became known as the “Crisis of the Late Middle Ages”.…

While reading Three articles concerning the collapse of the maya civilization, I read about debates why the civilization fell apart. Ancient Mayan empire was approximately A.D 250 to A.D 900. The mayan Civilization once extended through out the area of Texas, southern Mexico, and Northern Central America, This includes the countries of Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, and Honduras. The mayans was a very advanced civilization they had a break through in astronomy which helped them predict where the moon and planets would lay in the sky. The mayans left behind stone inscriptions and books regarding their gods, which taught us a lot about the mayan empire. A common reason the empire collapsed was drought which stopped the mayans from agriculture, and many more examples of the falling of the empire.…
