I asked myself questions about what I would do if my loved one was sick and I found out it was the local company’s fault. I had to check myself repeatedly, to insure I was not being biased one way or another. I kept asking myself “Am I keeping an open mind about the situation”?
If I were to actually investigate the described problem, I would start by interviewing those that had been affected by the illnesses. Looking for any patterns that may reflect why these people have been affected. Following that I would take soils and water samples of the areas around the homes of those that fell ill. Once I determined the cause of the problem, I would then look into how the problem came to be. For example,

The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of the University of Western Ontario stages a single high quality theatre production every year for the local community. This year will be a performance of HMS Pinafore. Francis Vanden Hoven was selected to be the producer of the performance and is faced with budget restrictions, tight deadlines and the challenge of producing a high quality show that will generate positive reviews. Francis is a business student at the university with no prior theatre experience. In order to prepare he has scheduled a meeting with his assistants Deb, Mona and Liz. During the meeting many factors that affect the production were discussed. Some of which include wardrobe, set construction, marketing, volunteers, hired staff, blackout dates, budget and so on. The task at hand for Francis Vanden seems to be proper project management to ensure a successful production. The best way to attack the challenges is to organize the tasks and timelines, this can be done with a Product Process Matrix that displays all the jobs in a clear manner and determine the critical path of the project.…

The purpose of this paper is to address differences between public and community health, research public health resources on a borough, state, and national level as well as review a brief history of those agencies. Whereas public health and community health is often used interchangeably, public health is coordinated on a national, state, and borough scale and public health is a profession that includes more than just nurses. Public health can include emergency personnel, health educators, public officials, public health nurses, social workers, and community individuals. Community health uses information and implements the research from public health arenas to a specific population.…

Some sickness are related to the person’s culture and the way the doctors can help cure it. In Benson’s article he mentions the problems with cultural competency, such as a patient on certain ethnicity are assumed to have a specific set of beliefs that are supposed to help fixed ethnic illnesses making cultural competency a do’s and don’ts list that defines how to treat a patient given their specific ethnic backgrounds. Also according to Farmer, Nizeye, Stulac, and Keshavjee, physicians appreciates that some social factors such as racism, gender inequality, poverty sometimes determine who falls ill and who is able to have access to care and the social determinants of the disease are harder to avoid. Even while being aware of this this awareness rarely translates into “formal frameworks that link social analysis to everyday clinical practice” (Farmer et al, 2006). Another problem with cultural competency is that the idea of isolating societies can lead to serious stereotyping and that cultural factors are not always the center of the diagnosis and can hinder the understanding of the…

Background: According to the Millennium Development Goals Report 2012, 783 million people, or 11 per cent of the global population, remain without access to an improved source of drinking water. Also the United Nations has long been addressing the global crisis caused by insufficient water supply to satisfy basic human needs and growing demands on the world’s water resources to meet human, commercial and agricultural needs (un.org). In this experiment water quality and contamination of groundwater was investigated. First, I observed the effects that many pollutants have on groundwater. I predict that in this experiment the oil and vinegar will create the large amount of contamination in the water, while the laundry detergent will just create an aroma smell to it. Considering the smells and color to these ingredients I think that it will cause the water quality to have a bad smell and cause the water to be very cloudy. Once filtering the contaminated water, the water will be clear and purified. Second, I will experiment water treatment and filtering. I predict that once the contaminated water is treated and filtered that it will leave me with less contamination or none at all. Then for the last experiment, I will determine the difference between bottled water and tap water to discover any contamination. I predict that the tap water will be the most contaminated and with the most chemicals in it, while the bottled waters; Dasani and Fiji will be completely filtered and free of any chemicals.…
