We see them almost everywhere! We can hear them around the corner, and we see their shadow from far away. We try to avoid looking directly into their eyes, and we pretend we did not hear them when they talk to us. We walk around the block to avoid them, and walk faster to leave them behind. These people that we consider to be invisible are actually homeless human beings. Homelessness in America remains an issue of deep concern in the 21st century. Anna Quindlen’s thesis in “Homeless” is that society has distanced itself from homelessness by viewing the problem as a whole rather than considering the individual hardships homeless men and women must endure. Quindlen’s feels the biggest problem in the world today is the increasing number of homeless people (Quindlen 215). For instance, homeless people lack access to basic necessities as well the personal space it provides. Quindlen infers, that while some dedicated individuals work hard to improve the lives of the homeless, most people choose to avoid recognizing the extent of their hardships (216). In 2015, we are confronted with the harsh realities of the traditionnal economy in which we live. Homelessness is one of those problems, and it does not just hurt a couple of unprivileged souls but the whole of society and our economy.…

Today, 564,708 people in the U.S. are homeless (“2016’s Shocking Homelessness Statistics”). As we speak, the rate of homelessness continues to rise. There are many reasons for homelessness: national debt, natural disasters, and unemployment. Although national debt and natural disasters are important factors of homelessness, society mainly focuses on unemployment and limited job opportunities. In fact, society stigmatizes homeless people as lazy and hopeless individuals. For example, many people think that if you don't have a job and are on the line of paying your rent, you are lazy. People don't keep into account the person’s story. Since the person stigmatizing them has never been in that person’s situation before, how can they possibly come…
