The location of this story sets along the Mississippi River. It takes place before the Civil War since slavery was still an issue.
It meant freedom from obligations of school, rules, and civilized behavior.For both Huck and Jim it was a place of adventure.

It made him to start thinking about his escape. This conflict is external because he was being physically abused by his father. For the ones who kept him civilized all their hard work went to waste. Huck’s plan to escape works and has to keep fleeing so nobody can find him.
IV. Characters:
Huckleberry Finn is the main character and narrator in the story. He is significant because he shows us that he was more civilized in his own way by treating Jim right than society was. Huck is a thoughtful, youthful, and ingenious.
Jim was Miss Watson’s slave. When he escaped he became Huck’s partner throughout their journey down the river. Jim is important because he proves the opposite of what he had been perceived as; he was as human and loyal as any other person opposite of his race. Jim can be described as loyal, courageous, and apprehensive. Tom Sawyer is Huck’s best friend from hometown. Tom helps Huck set Jim free after they find out he’s been captured. Tom is significant because he goes against his will/beliefs to help set a slave free. He realized that society’s expectations were wrong. Tom is one adventurous, creative, and compliant boy.
