CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study Malnutrition and diseases caused by it are one of the worldwide problems we are facing. Malnutrition is caused by lack of intake of nutrients which stops the body functioning as it should be. Malnourished people- especially children, experience developmental delays, weight-loss and illness. Malnourishment can greatly compromise a child’s immune system, making them more susceptible to infectious diseases. Particularly in institutions where there are poor sanitary practices, children are vulnerable to infections from other children or caregivers. That is why, the researcher thought of a way to lessen cases of malnutrition by the means of creating healthy, delicious and inexpensive biscuit. This study will be conducted for the utilization of Ampalaya (Momordica charantia) and Lemongrass
