Hrm 531 Week 2 Reaction Paper
Additionally, JCC stated that "Ms. Pivoda's salary history since hire as a Senior Court Services Analyst mirrors Ms. Thao's salary history.” If you retrieve the detail salary history on Ms. Pivoda, you will find that this statement is FALSE and very MISLEADING. The “Salary History Since Hire” report did not reflect her “monthly salary” upon the her favorably promotion to Sr. CSA position. Contrary to the email confirming Ms. Pivoda starting salary (See Exhibit D email from hiring manager Fred Salimi to HR recruiter), she received 5% above the minimum starting salary of $5983 per month. Again, I wanted to emphasis that Ms. Pivoda did not meet the minimum qualification for the job and shouldn’t have a 5% above the minimum starting salary especially when her salary at the time of promotion was probably 5% less than the …show more content…
Salami to HR recruiter on November 24, 2008 at 11:12 AM, Exhibit D, eluded that HR is to “prepare the offers at the starting rate” for both positions. I’m not sure how Ms. Pivoda is able to negotiate an additional 5% when I was “flatly” denied when I asked Ms. Pellegrini if I could negotiate my starting salary. The reason provided to me at time of the denial was that AOC does not allow for any starting salary negotiation. Unbeknownst to me that only “favored” individual would benefit and able to negotiate.

Adding insult to injury, in the classification study performed by Fox & Lawson, Ms. Pivoda was originally classified as a Business System Analyst and not a Senior Business System Analyst. However due to the influence of management, for unknown reasons or avoidance, she was reclassified back to Senior Business System Analyst before the final classification was sent out to the staff. At one time, the organization chart for COE, reflected this lower classification as well; however, I didn’t save a copy knowing that HR already notified her with her current classification of Senior Business System

The identification of the melting point of the organic acid was done to find another characteristic of the acid and to test the purity of the recrystallized pure acid. A 2-4 mm layer of unknown sample was placed into a capillary tube sealed on one end. Then the capillary tube was inserted into the side a Bibby Sterlin device. The plateau was set to 200°C on the melting point apparatus. Once the plateau temperature was reached, the sample was watched carefully. When the sample first began to melt and when it was fully melted was recorded. These numbers were the range of the melting point. A slow melting point of the unknown organic acid and a standard sample was completed next. A new plateau was set about 10°C lower than the observed melting point of the unknown sample. This time once the plateau was reached, the heating was no more than 1°C per minute. This gave a much more accurate read of both melting points. If the standard did not melt in the range listed on the label of the bottle, that meant the machine was not working properly. The standard sample and the unknown organic acid melted in their appropriate ranges.…

On the right in Figure 27 shown the power density spectral of noise measurements at low frequencies, from 1 Hz to 14 Hz and used commercial resistance of 1 kΩ to compare 2 different current generators. The curves in red color correspond KEITHLEY 2400 series and the curves in black color correspond to the ADRET current generator. The KEITHLEY generator slightly lower noise than ADRET generator. However, theoretically the differential measure with correct polarization can suppress this kind of noise origin from the current generator.…

There are actually a few factors that determine a patient’s benefits eligibility, and some of these factors include whether or not coverage ends on the last day of the month where the particular employee’s active full-time service is over, and this employee may no longer qualify for insurance benefits. For example if there was a part time employee that does not receive any benefits at their job, the employee may lose benefits by losing hours. If the insurance covers eligible dependent, the coverage may end on the last day of the month where as the dependent status…

The name of the article I choose is “Are you Hooked” by author Leah McLaughlin. Soft addiction is the simple uncontrolled things we do every day that we would not have thought to be harmful for us. Things like excessive web surfing, drinking too much coffee, stress eating, watching too much TV, etc. We do these things to avoid something we do not like to confront, to help us cope, or to help us feel that we have control over specific matter. For example, a lot of us stress eat as a relief from feeling of hurt, to avoid what bothers us inside. What happens in our brain is that when we stress eat, is that we forget how we truly feel inside and the troublesome feeling gets replaced by the reward stress eating gives us, which is pleasure. The brains reward system gets compromised and ultimately disables the function that would say stress eating is not good for you. This then leads to the consequences of these addictions, our family, career, other relationship, and health gets affected and put in jeopardy. We start to neglect having family time instead of spending hours and hours on the web. Gladly, there are ways to resolve these addictions. First we try to figure out the source of addiction, or why or what made us do certain things, secondly, by following moderate steps, for example, instead of watching TV for four hours, maybe cut down to two. By doing this consistently, things get easier eventually restore balance in our life. “Soft addictions are an escape from uncomfortable feelings,” says Judith Wright, who wrote a book on the subject, The Soft Addiction Solution.(McLaughlin, 2010, pg. 138).…

There are twelve key principles of green chemistry that are used to evaluate how green a reaction may be. A green reaction prevents waste before it is created with little to no toxicity. Green experiments should be designed to maximize the starting materials into the final products while minimizing toxicity. Raw materials should be renewable and products should break down and not persist in the environment while reducing derivatives. All experiments should be performed in real time with use of catalysts while minimizing potential chemical accidents.…

In scenario one the prevention level being used is the Primary level of prevention. The reason I believe that this method is being used because the services offered through the agency are ones to prevent the abused women from being depressed and leading to other psychological disorders. In this particular scenario I wouldn’t do anything different, I think that the agency has a good plan in effect for dealing with potential hostile or violent situations. Instead of confronting the husband trying to talk rationally with him and defuse the situation while alarming the authorities is the best route for dealing with a person like that. In the case of the wife the programs offered through the agency promote self-worth and help prevent her from feeling bad about herself. Learning new job skills and healthy ways of thinking about oneself should prepare her for an independent lifestyle to provide for her and her children.…

I attended an A.A. meeting on April 5, 2010. Before the meeting I seemed very anxious. This was not my first meeting I have been to meetings before but they all seem to make me nervous. When I arrived the nervousness had eased off because everyone had made me feel welcomed. I was made to feel like a part of their family from the beginning to the end of the meeting. After meeting Sue, Mary’s attitude changed tremendously. Mary seemed very excited after leaving the meeting, but once she talked to Sue and found out what salary she received once she was hired he attitude quickly changed. Her attitude change because of difference of pay, she did not see it as ‘fair.’ Following her review and the 10% pay raise she had received, Mary salary was still a little less than Sue’s. Sue had recently started and Mary had already been employed with the company for about a year and established herself, Sue had not and that is another reason she more than likely upset about the salary difference. Mary and Sue had similar backgrounds and experience brought to the company, but Mary was hired a year prior and it is up to the company’s discretion for the pay and Mary should not be upset with Sue. In addition, Mary’s attitude should have changed the way she views the company, not Sue. Sue had nothing to do with the salary it was the company’s decision, it may not be fair but it is part of life. Mary should be happy for herself for getting a decent job straight out of college, since it is difficult to find one in today’s current economic struggles.…
