How To Write A Rn Reflection

During the second half of the semester I showed strengths by recognizing my own limits and seeking assistance/guidance, seeking out opportunities, reflecting on my own nursing practice and keeping open communication with my instructor and RN. During one of my shifts, I worked with client who wanted to change but was hooked up to a VAC. I recognized that I wasn’t educated on VACs, and was unsure as to whether I could unplug it so she could change. I sought out a RN and charge nurse to help me figure out how to do this. After being guided through the process of what to do, I was able to help the client change. I have also taken the opportunity to reflect on my own nursing practice through my RPN’s. My RPN’s have showed a thorough analysis of my feelings and questions that arise throughout my shifts. In addition, I always make sure to stay in touch with my client’s nurse and my instructor throughout my shift. I chart off at the end of each shift and give report to the nurse. I also took an opportunity to empty a Blake drain on a client who was not my own. I had the RN guide me through it, as it was my first time performing this task.
Majority of my clients were to be discharged the day of my shift, thus making it hard to add to their care plans. This is an area I would like to focus on in CPE as it will enhance my nursing practice. In addition to this, I would like to become better at taking on new opportunities. There have been times were I let other student take on the opportunity but I need to start fending for myself. Sometimes the clients on my team don’t require the clinical sklls that I would like to work on. I would like to start asking around for these opportunities during down time. To address this, I will be better at voicing my interest in particular skills and asking nursing throughout the day if they have anything I can do for them in regards to
