How To Write A Narrative Essay About My First Vacation In Columbia
I live in a country full of rich resources. Our weather is like a bittersweet lotion that replenishes the skin. People from all over the world come to my land for these things called "vacations". Vacations bring in nothing but good memories, smiles, and family. A vacation is a fairytale here in Columbia. The beautiful landscapes are just a pinch of reality that are on the brochures, websites, and posters. Sometimes when I look at these Americanized pictures of Columbia I wish I was there. The true story of Columbia starts in the city of Bogata located in the mountains. I am a young girl. I will not disclose my name or age because what I'm about to tell you about my culture and land are hands on things my soul has been through; which may upset …show more content…
I remember one time I hid in a ditch covered by broken branches of war. In this ditch I was not alone. On the right side was a dead peasant just like me but the only difference was that my heart was still beating. I searched his pockets and found enough cocaine to rest the hands of my family for 72 hours. As I waited for the sound of guns to stop my feet were marinating in this man's blood. This blood was not warm, so my feet were cold. I am an expert on death. I seen more deaths than days I have been alive. His body has been there for a couple of Columbian sunsets. Again I am young so I tend to see the brighter side of things. I was lucky enough to come across his body and take his shoes since I didn't have any. This dead body was a blessing for my family and I. Not everyday I get this lucky. When I get home I play with my one my legged friends. No, they weren't born with one leg, they lost it in the mountains picking coca leaves. Colombia has the highest percentage of land mine victims in the world. The gorillas and paramilitary have set up land mines all over the mountain to protect the coca leaves from intruders. A majority of my friends have a missing arm or leg. One time I was playing with another

Going to Southern California, no one would think of packing an umbrella. Why would they? California is in the middle of a drought. When someone thinks of California, they think of baby blue skies and palm trees along the streets. But, of course, the weekend my family decided to visit Disneyland, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld is the weekend Southern California experienced what the local news called a “tropical depression.”…

About a year ago, myself and a couple friends took a semester off school, went to South Africa for a vacation and for a chance to see a different part of the world. We set out for four months; three of those months we spent traveling up and down the garden route and the east coast and midway through our trip, we stopped at a hostel called, “Coffee Shack.” It was very laid back and relaxing hostel; there were many people there every night and the ocean was so close to the tepee we were living in, we were practically swimming. Every morning we would wake up to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and the enormous African sun that hovered over our heads.…

When I was in the eighth grade I went on a weeklong mission trip with my youth group to Houston, Texas. This trip was a turning point in my life spiritually and mentally, completely changing my thought process of inner city missions at the time. There is a ministry there called CSM that invites youth groups to come and they will take the group to certain places in the city where they can serve and get a feel for the need there and many places. This trip was very impacting for me and I am still looking back on it and realizing the benefits.…

Every year a large amount of children and women take on the challenge of traveling to the United States, some legally, some illegally. Considering the risks women and children take everyday living in Central America, coming the the United States is a very big opportunity and uncertainty they are willing to take. It does not surprise me that an immense amount of people make the trip to America because of the positive possibilities mothers are given when arriving, especially when they come to make money to support loved ones they left behind. Although this decision is not surprising and is well understood, i do not agree with this choice that is made.…

“We are going to America this summer.” I heard my sister screaming and saying, “ Are you serious!? That’s so coool!!” happily, but I could not be excited like her. I immediately thought about how my school life in America is going to be. At this time, I thought American people are mean and racist. That night, I even saw a dream that I am making no friends and being bullied by the American people. I got so scared when I saw that dream, I did not want to go to America. I grew up in Vietnam and accepted Vietnam education during my childhood. It was July 19, 2011 when my parents had the opportunity to come to America as immigrants. I have great appreciation for my grandparents and parents because they gave up everything to come to America. They did this to give their children a better life and education. I still remember the day that I left my country; it was a beautiful memory that I won’t ever forget. The plane took off at 5:00 am, so we had to arrive at the airport at 3:00 am. All of my family was there with us, we were hugging and crying. It took all my strength and courage to keep from crying that day; I had to control my feelings. I couldn’t cry because if I cried it would’ve been too hard to say goodbye. Finally, I couldn’t control my tears; they raced down…

Looking back at my year in the United States, it's hard to believe what I have been through. Although it has been almost two years, all the memories are still vivid in my mind. Sometimes, I can still hear loud cheering of my friends during an American football game and the calling of the customers at the restaurants I worked at. The year might not have been perfect, but it was my best year so far. My experience in America had transformed me from a spoiled child to a young adult with a broader and more positive insight on the…

In the summer of 2015, my sister and I took out first trip out of the country. Only the two of us went because my parents wanted us to go to Costa Rica to meet our family and see how life is there. I had never been out of the United States, so I had only heard of how life was in Costa Rica I’ve never experienced it. I had a hard time imagining what Costa Rica looked like even though I had the power to search it on the internet. I just assumed it was just like the United States because that was what I had been accustomed to for seventeen years. However when I arrived, I encountered an environment far different from the one I had been accustomed to. In the United States we are very technology driven. I won’t lie, I am very dependant on technology…

My Dad and I used this time to talk, make plans for the trip and think about our upcoming adventures on the cruise.…
