How To Write A Monsters Of The North Essay
Monsters of the North
There are many things that have shaped and influenced me as a person emotionally, physically, and mentally. Art plays a big role in my life. I have always been fond of art and its various cultures. One of those cultures being music. A piece of the music culture that is most significant to me is the song Monsters of the North by the band National Parks.
The very first time I had ever heard this song was this past June of 2016. I was hanging out with Megan, my best friend, discussing our summer. We had been discussing which songs reminded us of summer 2015. Megan explained to me information about this band that went by the name National Parks, and their song Monsters of the North. She had me listen to this song. As I was

I was going river rafting in Moab, getting my wisdom teeth out, simply put I would be experiencing new things. I was nervous and scared. When I heard this song I felt at peace. It was a reminder to look for the good in all. To let go of all your problems holding you back. That there will always be someone there right by my side. It was nice to remember when I was nervous for the future.
The National parks have had much success in their music. They started making music in 2013 in Provo, Utah. Their first release made it to #13 on Itunes. All members of the band are enrolled in Brigham Young University. They incorporated love in a way media hasn’t seen in awhile. Clean and pure love. Now all pop songs are about making love rather than being in love.
As I listened more and more to this song the melody moves me. It brings such a positive tone to whatever I may be doing. Me and my friend always refer back to this song when one of us are feeling down. To remind the other that we are not alone and that we will have the others back no matter the condition. Everyone has times when they are upset and feel alone. They have “seen monsters chasing dreams”. That is why this song is so great. Because everyone can relate to it in one way or another. Remember that you are not alone, but that you are

The Goo Goo Dolls music is also relevant to my ever-changing life. The music caused me to do research on the band this lead me to www.robbyslobby.com, which I feel is a poorly designed site. This site is what led me to come back to school to learn website design. I hope that, when I finish my degree, I’ll redesign his website for him. The last way that they have impacted me is that, they can change my mood. Barry Farber in his book Rock ‘n’ Roll Wisdom wrote, “ We…

I believe this song belongs on the soundtrack because it connects to the Catcher in the Rye's theme of loneliness and depression. Throughout the song, the singer expresses his feelings of how he used to listen to the radio to drown out all his negative thoughts, however since somebody stole his car radio, now he is forced to think and listen to all his negative thoughts. Some lyrics that really stood out to me were “I find over the course of of our human existence//One thing consists of consistence//and it's that we're all battling fear//Oh dear, I don't know if we know why we're here//Oh my, too deep//Please stop thinking//I liked it better when my car had sound”. This reflects in the book because as Holden leaves Pency and explores New…

This makes it almost impossible to forget them. The song is more greatly focused on the emotional aspect rather than the lyrics themselves which is more introspective to the audience. The mournful feature of the song triggers a small section in our brain. This constructs the feeling of sorrowfulness but also rage and terror. The distress caused by the misfortune suffered by others can carve a whole in our hearts but also bring our inner rage from inside of us. I started my writing process when I began to read my book Children of Monsters. As I read, I tried to stickynote places that seemed to show significant displays of author’s style. After completing the book, I continued the writing process by attempting to focus my journal responses on topics that I could potentially stem off of to create an essay. Unfortunately, after that I took a much too long break from the essay, and procrastinated. I tried to think of a thesis, but even after hours of looking through the book, no substantial ideas came to me. I was trying too hard to be inspired.…

In music, I compare my troubles and tribulations with the lyrics. Towards the middle of the piece, it begins to build up. When I was around 9 years old, my mom passed away from failure to receive a liver transplant. This hit my family hard and to this day, we are still haunted by the day God took her away. Since this is the middle of the piece, it's starting to have emotion and deep feelings within it. Anger, hurt, and sorrow was what I was feeling when my mom passed away. I was confused and mad at the world. I didn't quite understand why people had to die since I was only 9 after all. There was always a question of why and to this day, there still is.…

Like James Baldwin said “only an artist can tell and only an artist have told, since we have heard of man, what it is like for anyone that gets this planet, to survive it. What it is like to die, or to have somebody die, what it is like to fear death, what is it like to fear, what it is like to love, what it is like to be glad.” Music expresses the pain, suffering, love and all sorts of emotions that we cannot express but just normal verbal means. Artists talk about the depressing topics that we are afraid to talk about and express our inner emotions for us and give us a sense of relief that someone else can relate to us. In the revelation of the narrator at the end of the story he realized that of all the things he been through that there is still light at the end of the tunnel because he still have his brother, they are surviving and living.…

Music has played a significant role throughout my whole life. All throughout middle school and high school I have been a performer, participating in many different musical organizations including orchestra and choir. These personal experiences have broadened my interests in music. In middle school I was in choice voices, which was a special singing group for people who excelled in singing. When I went to high school I stayed in the same program and even became senior section leader of my choir, conducting different songs at our concert and being in charge of different performances. During my childhood I was part of the choir at my church, and performed during the different holiday masses.…

This poem really hit home for me. Not only is it beautiful, and meaningful but it also gives you room to interpret it in different ways. E.E Cummings, the way he starts out, saying he has gone to a place he has never been before and he’s happy. He uses so many metaphors and allegories. Although the poem seems to be saying he has actually gone somewhere, it is not literal. He is saying to a new state of mind. He has guarded himself from love, and now that he let love him he is happier than he can explain.…
