How To Write A Monsters Of The North Essay
Monsters of the North
There are many things that have shaped and influenced me as a person emotionally, physically, and mentally. Art plays a big role in my life. I have always been fond of art and its various cultures. One of those cultures being music. A piece of the music culture that is most significant to me is the song Monsters of the North by the band National Parks.
The very first time I had ever heard this song was this past June of 2016. I was hanging out with Megan, my best friend, discussing our summer. We had been discussing which songs reminded us of summer 2015. Megan explained to me information about this band that went by the name National Parks, and their song Monsters of the North. She had me listen to this song. As I was

I was going river rafting in Moab, getting my wisdom teeth out, simply put I would be experiencing new things. I was nervous and scared. When I heard this song I felt at peace. It was a reminder to look for the good in all. To let go of all your problems holding you back. That there will always be someone there right by my side. It was nice to remember when I was nervous for the future.
The National parks have had much success in their music. They started making music in 2013 in Provo, Utah. Their first release made it to #13 on Itunes. All members of the band are enrolled in Brigham Young University. They incorporated love in a way media hasn’t seen in awhile. Clean and pure love. Now all pop songs are about making love rather than being in love.
As I listened more and more to this song the melody moves me. It brings such a positive tone to whatever I may be doing. Me and my friend always refer back to this song when one of us are feeling down. To remind the other that we are not alone and that we will have the others back no matter the condition. Everyone has times when they are upset and feel alone. They have “seen monsters chasing dreams”. That is why this song is so great. Because everyone can relate to it in one way or another. Remember that you are not alone, but that you are

This song is part of my life soundtrack because it reminds me of my great grandma. My great grandma passed away when I was in 5th grade and this song has always reminded me of her. We were extremely close, she was my best friend, and whenever I hear this song it brings back memories of when I was at her house or just spending time with her. My favorite part of this song is the chorus. When I was younger I used to listen to this song after she passed away because it reminded me that I would see her again someday.…

It does not have a narrative or a straight forward statement. It is an expression of a feeling of ennui and company that helps to mitigate it, even if not with the ideal methods. This, and the other songs on the E.P. were all written while my girlfriend was undergoing intense chemotherapy. This was dark time and methods were bound to be less than ideal. We coped. We survived.…

FOr me, I find this song inspirational because I feel the singer is speaking to me. The song’s chorus in particular is the most inspirational. I feel like the singer wants me to be successful and is hoping for me to achieve my dreams. The most inspirational part is when it says, “And when you get it all just remember one thing, remember one thing, one man could change the world.” I feel this line has a lot of truth to it and can serve anyone well in life to try to follow it. Go after your dreams and if you achieve them try to help other people achieve their dreams and change the world. At the very end of the song, there are line from Sean speaking on the phone to his grandmother. His grandma thanks him for calling and thinking of her. I have a great relationship with my grandparents and this hits home for some reason. I think the reason it is in the song though is to try and show people that giving attention to the elderly is helping the world. This song does not relate much to the biblical songs. That is because those songs preach love and belief in God, while “One Man Can Change the World” focusses more on love and belief in yourself. Saying that, it doesn’t make the biblical songs any less inspirational. While belief in yourself is crucial in whatever you do, belief in Hashem is just as important. For that reason I do believe that biblical songs are inspiring to me because they are very upfront…

It describes my exact feelings towards graduation talking about how “our future is in our hands and how we “have so many dreams and so many plans.” While listening to this song, I think back on all the memories I have made at Madera High, and all the people who have touched my life. I am appreciative of the small town I come from, and the opportunities Madera High has blessed me with. I will always remember these last 4 years and all the people that shaped me into the person I have become today. This song causes me to look back on high school and just smile as it's now coming to an end. “For [me] the world just opens up, as I close this chapter and begin a new story at Cal Poly this fall. I'll always remember my roots and Madera High School. #BleedBlue…

I started my writing process when I began to read my book Children of Monsters. As I read, I tried to stickynote places that seemed to show significant displays of author’s style. After completing the book, I continued the writing process by attempting to focus my journal responses on topics that I could potentially stem off of to create an essay. Unfortunately, after that I took a much too long break from the essay, and procrastinated. I tried to think of a thesis, but even after hours of looking through the book, no substantial ideas came to me. I was trying too hard to be inspired.…

This song is about a woman who is a tease. The woman will kiss the man and even turn them on but will have nothing else to do with them. Eventually the man gets addicted to this girl and believes that she’s the one. He tries to break his addiction of her but she will always be the one. In the end the man keeps trying to break her and she resists. I think this song tells an interesting story about real life and love at first sight. The amount of imagery in this song immediately draws you in. I think it is pretty neat that whenever Bruce writes a song it is not just words but it is full of thought and meaning. This is one of those songs that many people remember as the song that was playing during their first kiss. The song is full of emotion and it brings emotions to those that listen to…

This might sound ridiculous but this song is the real reason behind my inspiration to dance. This was the one song that was exceptionaly long so the only thing I knew how to do was dance to the song. Dance here, dance there, dance everywhere. It was the one thing I enjoyed to do. Because of this, my mom joined me in dance class and I have won 3 medals in competivie dancing since then. If they never invited a theme song this long, I might have never discovered the joy to dancing.…
